300 rubies for a CERTAIN troop card is fine. 300 rubies for a chest containing troop cards (0% possibility) and trade goods (100% possibility) that's not only expensive, that's useless

Manifesto I spent rubies on my 2 accounts for the emperor's chest a couple of weeks back. About 17 chests, 16 got me 2 silk and a troop card each, and 1 got me a troop card and a Ninja Dojo.

If you bought 17 for 2 accounts, and I presume they were split evenly, then that would seem to be about right. 1 in 7-10 chance of a good reward would be what I would expect. If you said that you got 1 good reward in 17 chests that would be very frustrating.
Not trying to dismiss your rewards but 1-in-10 seems reasonable, 1-in-20 would be cause for complaint.

Just wanted to share it's possible to get a building from the Emperor chest. I haven't bought any Antique ones.

I'm loathe to point out something obvious about free troops cards but the dock, despite people's negative reactions, is a good place to get free cards for a few workers.
It might not be the strength or size of what you want but 'something' is better than nothing.

Only if they shorten the time or numbef of workers required, with current workers shortage situation, not worth it.

Manifesto What can I say, it's 100% trade goods to me, having opened more than 10 chests. Anyway, I care not anymore. I have to do a lot more important things in DomiNations than gambling (say looting and war!). After all as I said before, if I meant to gamble I'd play blackjack, not DomiNations. DomiNations is supposed to be a strategy game, not a casino game.

Given that it's impossible, maybe it's a better idea to assume it's a random number generator and not a 'open this many chests to fill a progress bar for a building'. Meaning we can collect info from multiple sources.

no doubt, but it still leaves the problem of giving rubies a meaning and thus world wars a meaning. Marco is the only place to trade rubies, so there need to be usefull things to buy with rubies with an reasonable price and all is ok.

It was the Emperor's chest, doesn't suck as much as the Antique chest, additionally it was 150 rubies per chest.

Tiggo , I think the title says it all: ''this week''.
For all we know MP might be back next week or the week after with better rewards but of course people have a kneejerk reaction and then vent.
And why? Because MP was giving reasonably good rewards and the week that he doesn't it's a meltdown for some! Like a child throwing a tantrum.

I enjoyed when they revamped the dock. After I hit Gunpowder, I thought I'd never use it again, and then they made it worth using by shortening the duration of the trips and improving the payback. Lately, and this could be a coincidence with the cheapening of the Marco Trade post, I've been getting troop offers for 2 levels below. Hardly worth tying up several population for 2 days for a medieval army when I'm mostly fighting global players.
