Why are you playing?

It seems to me that a lot of people, especially top players, are very focused on the negative things about Dominations. No-opponents, force quit, cheaters, etc. And rightly so. Obviously, those are things that need to be fixed. I'm sure Nexon is working hard on that, and it's probably a good thing that they are made aware of it on a regular basis.

But some of the top posters here almost seem to dislike the game and just continue because they've worked hard for what they have? That's the impression at least. Which I hope is wrong. It's a game. It's supposed to be fun, right?

So I'm wondering... what is it that makes you all continue playing? Like what are the great aspects of Dominations that'll hopefully continue to be here for a long time?

For me personally, it's a combination of a lot of things.

I like that the game can be challenging regardless of how many hours I put in. Just in different ways. For the periods where I don't feel like playing a lot, it's challenging to get ressources to keep the workers going. For the periods where I go crazy, max walls and medals will probably always be there to push me on.

I like that the game gets more "difficult" the more I level up. I don't mind the long building times. Makes me appreciate my stuff more when it's done, and it'll prolong the journey to getting maxed significantly. Would be boring if it would be possible to "beat the game" within a month like so many other games out there. And it'll probably make me stay with the game for longer.

I like the people playing a lot. To me it seems like there are quite a few good communities within the community, which each have their own attraction. Right now, I'm with an "old" group of friends enjoying building up something new. At some point in the future, I could imagine being permanently settled in a top alliance (hopefully with said old friends) like the Elite clans or German Union (or another top alliance without cheaters), where it's not only friendship in focus but also the intense exchange of knowledge.

I enjoy being part of a game that isn't done yet. It's interesting to have to deal with different types of bugs or imbalances, especially when those things get fixed and new ways have to be figured out in terms of what is most effective and what is not. And I honestly feel lucky to have had the chance to have a (albeit short) period with the overpowered french training for instance. I may play an imperfect game now, but with that comes both advantages and disadvantages.

And... yea.. there are many more things... but how about you? Why are you playing? :)

Hear hear. I personally like that it's not a 'cartoony' looking game like others out there (boombeach, coc, etc). I like Lord of the Rings on pc and this game's realistic visuals is what attracted me in the first instance - then l discovered the addictive gameplay. The other big plus for me is that we can design and redesign our bases ad infinitum! Just wish we could do this offline.

Anyway, Thats why I'm still hooked 9 months later - playing 3 civs at my leisure!

For me it's the diversity in strategy that you get from the different Civs and wonders. Most other games basically have the same options for everyone involved. I'm hoping they keep building on that and add more diversity, especially in war.

I started playing because it reminded me of Age of Empires( http://www.gamespot.com/age-of-empires-ii-the-age-of-kings/images/) which is one of my favorite PC games. With AOE, its basically the same concept....U start from a beginning age and do upgrades to your military and economy to advance to additional ages. The main gameplay consists of scenarios based on a civilization's actual history but you can also create scenarios where u can choose a civilization and decide the type of war u want to fight and choose the civilization(s) u wish to battle. Although AOE and Dominations both try to make each civilizations unique, AOE does a better job at focusing on technologies and research ( their universities = Domination's library) that are truly unique to that civilization. I've been looking for a mobile game that resembled that and so far Dominations is the closest. By the way there is an AOE app but its not by the same developers and IMO its horrible.

I play because I enjoy watching my city evolve. I like setting my own pace and choosing how much time I want to devote on a given day or week. I like trying different base designs and chatting with my alliance.
