Just because the attacker gets NTGs, i.e. through general iron side, doesn't mean that you also lose some.

National Trade Goods can't be stolen from players attacking.

Trade Goods, however, can. Things like Cider, Diamonds, Fur, Leather, and Metal.

These haven't been changed.
