I don't think this game is going anywhere until monthly revenues drop to a third of what they are now. Could be next month, could be years from now. But its golden age of player attraction and retention is long past. Hell, this very forum provides an example of that. Posts sit on the main page for days if not weeks that used to be bumped off in hours just a year or two ago. Of course that may well be that folks have realized that hardly anything of value is ever said or posted here. And the moderator either by his own volition or company mandate barely interacts at all and provides only the most canned of responses
Regardless, it's a hell of a lot slower in game these days across all levels. Oddly enough, it's actually what brought me back after my latest 3 month break. In the olden days I had to think strategically about my upgrades and looting, when to do what, so I didn't just paint a big target on myself when i logged off. Now, it doesn't matter, regardless of age. If I don't go to war and need NTG's then I can play as much or as little as I want, the timers are going to be there no matter what. Even if I get flattened I regenerate everything lost during the peace treaty with loot to spare. The game has become far more relaxing, an extremely small-scale version of Sim City, but far less compelling than it once was. Maybe one day I'll walk away for a few months and discover it's no longer around. Or I just pick up again right where I left off. Either way, it was nice while it lasted for the most part.
Anyway, you have much more faith in these developers than I do at this point. But for the sake of you, me and the community in general I hope your optimism is rewarded much more than my cynicism.
Have a good one.
