I had some gunners do that the other day. Then as soon as they breached the wall they went over to the hole that already existed and used it.

Yep. The same lousy AI that hasn't received one bit of an upgrade in 18 months or more while the last 5 or 6 updates have all been focused on defense.

Of course, given their recent track record with war stars, chat, alliance challenges, and night witches it's probably best they don't mess with anything else; as frustrating as that is.

My favorite is all troops will blast a wall that extends to the edge of the forest, instead of walking around it.

I'm partial to bunched-up cannons blasting three or more sections of wall myself.

This happened to me as well a few attacks later. And i deployed them after the first breach was made.
