A different kinda dilemma

I have been a non-paying player for two years now, and thoroughly enjoyed the game as this game is one of the best sources of my entertainment for free. That's also the reason I never got frustrated at any point and just took all bugs and sandbagging etc in my stride.

level 205 atomic , but still lotsa upgrades to go . So far I have been grinding , but never paid anything , so the progress is hard earned.

Now I was just wondering. We live in a closed gated housing society, so as part of mandatory maintenance charges, I have paid "society club and entertainment charges" for past two years , without utilising those facilities. In short I have paid 4 times the cost of Estate in dominations, for entertainment purposes, but never utilised that source of entertainment .

The question :- should I spend on this game ?

To be more specific , buying the Estate is the only thing worthy of spending money in the game right , even though it's costly. I don't plan to spend on anything else .

Put things in perspective. If you go out for a diner and follow up with a couple of beer in a bar with friends and take a Uber to go home, you may well spend 50$/€ for a single night of fun. As long as you define your own budget for domination and stick to it, you'll be happy.

Hmm defining a budget and sticking to it seems the key. Another question - does it get addictive ? I have seen usually first step is the most important . Once that happens, human brain tends to find random reasons to do it again , and the spiral starts .

for example - there is an offer going on for 50 pc more crowns and am already wondering to crown the lvl 7 factory and HT mk5 research. This when I haven't even actually spent money for the estate . So far I have been able to resist the temptations at various times in the past two years . I just don't know whether after the first buy will I end up spending regularly .

Once you start it is hard to stop yourself. I resisted for quite a while. Once I took that first step and made that first purchase there was no going back and got to the point that I would budget myself a certain amount a month and asked for gift cards from family on special occasions. If you are having fun why change anything? Unless you maybe think of it as a one time payment to the devs for giving you some entertainment like you would purchase a console game. Then purchasing the Estate is a good idea since once purchased you can't buy it again.

I have 3 different accounts. On my 187 global main I've bought Starter Packs I & II, as well as the estate. On my 111 EA second I've bought Starter Pack I. On my 60 Gunpowder nothing.

So all told I've spent $10+20+50+10 on this game since starting on 11/15, playing daily since 5/16. So $90 is a lot if you look at it like a new and used PS4 game. However, I'm not still playing any PS4 games I bought nearly two years ago either.

I've never been tempted to buy crowns because the value simply isn't there for them. $99 buys 14,500 crowns I think. A typical global upgrade is around 1600 crowns to rush it. There are dozens of such upgrades in global and atomic. No thanks. Nexon really needs to consider their sales, 35% is kind of a joke. They really should bust out 100% sales every now and again.

However, if you use a rough estimate of how many hours you play per week and divide 50 by that, it's somewhat easier to justify purchasing the estate. As JuDomines said it's a dinner, a bartab, a night at the movies at most. And those things last for a few hours.

You totally nailed it GailWho. Exactly my thoughts. It takes a lot of work to build a game and make it reach a stage where this game is currently. And when some of my money is going in a sink With no returns, this game has helped me cross some of the most difficult times of life , let alone all the friends I got in alliance and all the fun bashing and getting bashed .the game devs definitely deserve atleast a bit.

Temptation for only the factory lvl 7 , to get the TH . TH is the pathway to as good as unlimited oil . And I wanted to maximise on the time left till some sort oh TH nerf is announced. And since am using all heavy tank army , HT mk5 is a welcome addition to the arsenal. In short factory lvl 7 has been the best return on investment I've seen in past two years , so worth crowning if only one knows how to use its end products .

I see your point. Perhaps I'll feel the same one year hence, when I'm at that level. Everything in global feels too marginal for any serious outlay. Though I'll definitely be crowning my barracks when I get to atomic. 36 days with only 2 barracks lacks appeal.

The way i read this post is you are wanting us to talk you into buying an estate. My advise for people that say "should i spend money" is no you shouldnt. If someone has to ask to spend money it usually means 1, they really dont have the money to spend, 2. They have the money but it could be put to better use(ie little extra car payment), 3. The "on the fence" attitude could lead to buyers remorse and thus negatively effect their view on what they spent the money.

the way i look at the estate, beside being grossly overpriced, is it needs to be an early game purchase. Waiting until AA level 200+ almost seems like a waste to me. Sure i know there are 2 more ages "planned" ( we will see if this game lasts that long) but youve missed over half the game benefits from it.

In the end, its your money and you should spend it how you see fit. If it makes you happy and it wont cause financial stress then go for it.

I bought the estate within the first two weeks of release, my only regret is not purchasing it on release date so I have two less towers to upgrade now. I agree with the JuDomines on setting a Dominations budget if that sort of stuff worries you. There are worse (more expensive) vices I can be involved in than this game, so I have no qualms about spending a bit now and then for entertainment (this has trickled due to increasing P2W elements and my general dissatisfaction). In terms of value, $50 = 9,750 crowns during the recent 50% one-use "special" discount. 9,750 crowns is worth approximately 7 atomic upgrades (at 9 days apiece). You break even in 2+ months LOL, after that it's bonus.

I have a budget for this game. I don't track my spending to the last cent, but I don't think I go above my limit. I spend more when there are alliance gifts and bonus crowns, to get the best bang for the buck, then don't buy crowns for months afterwards. I sometimes buy the troops cards; heavy tank and elephant archer armies are very nice to have.

IMHO, the estate is still worth it even for a level 205 atomic player. There is so much left to upgrade.

FYI, I am at level 214 Atomic after 17 months playing. Spending money to advance quicker makes the game more fun to me, but I understand people who want to grind it out without paying. To each their own.

I ve only bought the starter pack I. I wanted to buy the starter pack II few days ago but before that the annoying bug of "getting 100% with one defensive building left" happened and I lost all my troops. I was compensated 100 crowns which was definitely not enough. I got pissed and decided not to spend any more money until the bugs are fixed. The estate is unbelievably overpriced IMO.

Thanks guys , your inputs do help in gauging how everyone thinks about the money aspect. LordJestix has actually got me thinking more than getting closer to an answer Lol. Buyer's remorse - that's a big thing that can step in . So far I was able to take pride in industrial/global level defences and atomic offense being hard earned. But once money comes into picture then yes , why wasn't the estate bought earlier (something similar to what Vincent trying to say about regret not buying earlier) ? And when it's a race where I can't be the first or last , so then why bother with spending ?
Tsamu says estate still worth it , Kam says way overpriced .... Gosh this is more confusing .

before reading your posts I was nearly 80% towards buying the estate , now it's 60 :( .

Each worker per day will cost at least 20 crowns
In other word Estate generate 60 crowns per day (in reality, more than 60), each 3 days it will generate crown cost $1
It is good to purchase if you will play the game in next 6 month, compare with crown,

But due to the fact that crown is over price in this game, I would say, it is good for you if you play for another 12 months.

(PS, I dont get an estate, as I dont think I able to catch the progress in anyway)
