Hey all!

Going to use this iTunes gift card that’s been burning a hole in my wallet lately. I’ve seen some really old threads about this, but the game has changed and frankly, so has the community.

So, here goes. I am looking at switching nations and possibly wonders. I will give my information below and I would really appreciate any advice/opinions/etc. :)

I am level 67 Medieval Age, sitting at 779 medals (right now, dropped some to farm). Currently working on maxing everything, including walls.
British. My troop composition is usually 1 ballista, 3-4 knights, 1 supply cart, the rest archers (only b/c British)
Stonehenge and Forbidden City (no clue why I chose these…I just did).

I’ve even created a few dummy accounts to “try” other nations, but there is no real true way without doing it at least Medieval Age or further.

I’m honestly only torn between staying British or changing to French. I keep my phone out at my desk all day at work, so I love to attack…French training time seems that would be nice. But I also really enjoy the range on the British archers.

As far as the wonders are concerned…I’ll take any input there.

Thanks!

I switched to French and am enjoying it but seeing that you are in medieval age right now it may not be the time for you to switch. Yes the training is better but is superior when coupled with training blessing (even after the nerf) and you can't use that until Enlightenment age. The other benefit of French is getting extra alliance troops and that doesn't start until gunpowder age. So all you are really left with as a difference from Brittish is the special which from what I hear Brittish ranged is the best. Perhaps you should save your crowns or use them to speed up your progress. As far as the wonders are concerned I like the Acropolis and forbidden city. But that's just me :)

For your wonders, do you want it to help with you defense or offense? Colosseum and Acropolis is good for defense, and Versailles is good for both defense and offense. I switched from Japanese to French in GP age. and I'm loving it since. I like the quicker training speed and the large alliance troop capacity.

Nathan,

Thanks for the reply! I personally would prefer something more 'offensive or economical' for my wonders.

We all have our preferencies for the wonders. I personaly chose Angkor and Gardens because of the trade goods convenience. I a big fan of the boost they enable. I also have Notre Dame which was good pre-EA. Now it's a bit useless. But was very helpful before, especially in Gunpowder age, which was the age I find the most challenging.

Any opinions on nations? French? British? Perhaps even Romans?

If you like attacking stick with the british for now (extra loot) - even into GA. Once you're ready to hit EA that would the best time to think about changing nations. Do your research and check these forums for the best advice. (personally I play as British, Germans & Romans but I may change my Romans to Koreans).

As for wonders: forget the economic benefits - they're not all that helpful later on - except maybe Notre Dame. IMO, re-thinking your wonders can probably wait until you reach GA. However, if you like attacking (at your desk all day of all things!!) then pick something that's going to give you an offensive benefit now and in the future ages. Your current wonders are fine early on but what is your ultimate goal - offense or 'farming' ?

The British nation is quite strong due to the range of the archer (as you probably know). You may want to push medals up a bit and see how you do before changing.

The benefit of the French nation has been nerfed considerably, but it's still quite strong.

The French build troops fast, but perhaps the British would be expected to bring more troops home.

If you're considering changing for fun, then go for it. Each nation has strengths. Pick the one that works for you.

I like nations with strong archers for the gameplay they bring. So in your shoes I'd go british or korea. I switched to Korea recently and now have 6 war tactics (all protect) and I spend them all during a 1h session under training blessing. Currently at 2,050 I'm doing good at 5staring my opponent but I expect it Will be tougher as I climb up the medal ladder.

I am thinking about switching from the Romans to the Koreans. I am soon at IA. Do you use only archers to 5 stars?

Archer + artillery + a few tank + 2 healers. I use this for months. Healer is the key unit of this game, it enables 5staring while ensuring most of your troops return from battle. The day they cut their building time from 30 to 15min was the best day of my life :p

Very good input from all!

For the time being, I think I am going to stick with British and continue to focus on climbing in medals and finding good army compositions.

Thanks again guys!
