I suggest to add a brief "Alliance History" tab to the alliance page that records major changes, events that had happened since the alliance was founded, it should also be publicly accessible from the alliance page and the war screen.
Major changes and events should include all names/flags that the alliance had used, previous prominent members of the alliance(ie previous leader and co-leaders), best war results, etc.
A more complete and comprehensive "Alliance History" that should be accessible to it's members only could also be implemented, which should include all the above mentioned brief "Alliance History" contents, a complete alliance war results records(note: the current alliance war results records only show recent ones) and other more sensitive past records that shouldn't be publicized to other alliances due to possible future encounters in war.
I believe this can let non members of the alliance(e.g. other alliance's members) to know a bit more about the alliance during war and help those seeking a new alliance decide better. It may also make it easier to spot cheating alliances and their cheating members.
A similar mechanism, though would probably be more complicated, may also be able to be implemented with those suggestions to change their individual screen name, or to be able add a town name that's changeable and independent of the screen name that was greatly objected due to the cheaters issue earlier in the forums
