So I was attacked today, ok no big deal happens all the time. I went to my mailbox, saw the defence report. I got 5 stared, by 55 bowmen from classical age... ?

I thought.. haha what? Hold on. So I watched the replay.

He deploys them all at the top of my base, and they all die quite quickly. He did not get 5 stars, nor did he take 56k food and 26k gold from me, yet that's what I lost?

I lost medals even though I won the defence? Plus i lost resources that he didn't take? It's even shown on the post match screen, he took 2365 gold and 203 food, but I lost all available loot?

This game tho.

I find myself wondering: which are the real numbers, and which are mistaken? Is the number of attackers wrong? Is the amount gold taken correct? Did I really lose that many medals, or is it just the reporting screen gone FUBAR? ... This evening I attacked someone and got a marginal 2 star victory, ran out of troops. I replayed the battle and in the replay then battle went differently! The first half to 3/4 was the same, but in the last 15-20 secs.my troops killed all defenders and I ran out of time. .....weird ....this tells me the replays, and possibly many other things are not deterministic. They're only saving some data points and then using algorithms to model the in between points. The algorithms are fuzzy, not taking the same path every time.

So how might the replay observation I made be connected to missing 5 stars and a load of loot to a meagre army? I think the numbers being shown might be in between the actual data points. They're software guesses from something else we can't see. My supposition is that the actual resource count in your base before and after the attack might be correct, but the reporting is wrong, both in the victory VS screen and on the inbox report. ..... Unfortunately with an independent data log of resource levels when we're not there watching we can't know what's going on. There's a very good chance my flight of fancy is just that: imaginary poppycock.

I do think there is something to my core theory though: they're applying some kind of "compression" to the data and reporting, and what we're seeing is the equivalent of the jagged pixelization one gets when applying too much jpeg compression to an image. The space and time savings are huge, but quality and fidelity suffers.

The replay is definitely non-deterministic. Sometimes if you watch the replay multiple times, you even get multiple results.

Not sure about the numbers listed on the log though. I should check it more often, but the frickin thing always takes so long to load.

The reporting is wrong. See these two screenshots showing different amount of stars when reviewing the same log at different times. Not only is the five star defeat wrong but so is the zero star defeat. It's not correctly reporting what happens in game. Also note how the log below it also shows different amount of stars when I accessed the information at different times. It changes, it's all over the place.

I have also noticed a huge spike in medals loss with little ability to gain. Nearly all my multiplayer matches will have a best result of one to two possible medal gain but heavy if I lose and when attacked I'll lose a high amount. It makes gaining medals just about impossible without having to pay for protection, which I don't do.
