Ambush trap effectiveness

We all have that trap by now.
Two (or more) fellows pop up outta no-where to attack a unsuspecting fool.
But do you feel as if it works?
It doesn't stop raiders from charging past them as they take one swing at 'em (not lethal, but it damages them okay.)
Do you feel as if they need a buff? (I'm no developer, so don't think I have any actual authority.)

They're only good for slowing down certain units, problem is if the units are rallied or have more movement speed like raiders, they run right past them instead.

Giving the activation range or number of defenders a buff might make them more usable.

they do a great job of distracting HC and tanks from doing their job of attack defense buildings. so often the HC are right next to a tower they want to destroy, then the get distracted by the ambush guys and forgot about the tower, then the tower waste them. so I'd say, if placed properly, they work just great as is.

Anyway, more importantly if you want to slow down raiders, use the caltrops or spike traps.

upgrade them if you want them to be more effective. having a lv1 or lv2 ambush isn't gonna get you to very far against an EA or IA army

I understand how they're slightly effective against a few units but in general they need to be more effective. It's almost a useless structure.

I think they are supposed to work like other traps... they slow down rather than kill attackers (although the the high level spikes do their fair share of that) . Not sure if they are designed to act as a main defense troop. But leveling them up certainly helps.
