Are Generals INSANELY OVERRATED in this game?

I just got and used my first general and....what a disappointment! One big issue I always have with my troops is that they have no clue what "strength in numbers" means. What they'll do is splinter off individually or groups of 2-3 and get wiped out by defense forces. However, if they stayed together as one big group of say 10 attackers, I can mow through the defenders like bowling pins.

This is what I thought the role of the General was for?? To lead my troops as one big and powerful cohesive unit.

What a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

When I played my general, she/he just went off and did their own thing (eventually getting killed) and the troops did their own thing (eventually getting killed). It's like they didn't even know the other existed! What kind of frikken leader is that???

At 7500 food a pop and super long cool down times...generals are INSANELY OVERRATED. First of all, I can almost build an entire army with 7500 food. Second of all, "cool down" time??? WTF is he doing? Taking a spa day after every battle? WTF kind of general is that?

In what crazy world would a real general act like that?

They forgot to buff generals and some mercs when buffed cavalry. And of course, they should recover in minutes or immediately if survived. It's going to take a long time before the game will be balanced with such speed.

If you drop troops strategically and rally every now and then, you can keep your army together to mow down enemy bases. Takes practice, but you'll be able to destroy bases with only loss of some foot troops. I think general's cooldown period could be shortened a bit, but their strength is fine as is. At level 15, he's nearly indestructible with some backup.

That is not the proper role of a general.

Generals typically plan strategy, rally and cause the troops to fight better.
They generally stay away from the front lines.

What they've done here is more of a hero, super-warrior type troop.

What they are missing is an ability that you can activate to give them and troops around them a burst of power/defense/barrage-o-shurukiens/whatever.

Yah I too think generals need a boost.

They should definitely have an AN ABILITY THAT GIVES A BOOST TO ATTACK AND/OR DEFENCE TO TROOPS WITHIN CERTAIN RADIUS OF GENERAL.

And their base DPS should be raised 2-3 times current base.

when we wait for another update (that may buff the generals, hopefully), I guess we can use them to defend our base. their HP is 10,000 (except Napoleon) after all.

dont forget that if u buff generals then opponents genera will be too and then defense will need to buffed so it doesnt get instantly demolished by a superman genera that makes his army too strong.

...they make great diversions on the opposite side of the map, though!

Generals are almost useless in this game.. I take that back, they are useless. What a joke of heroes addition in a game.

It looks like they changed the functionality of generals. Does anyone know how they work? I think you can keep using them (battle after battle) until they are killed but I'm not sure.

But, they still don't lead. :(

It's ironic because the description says:

"Also allows you to appoint a powerful General to lead your army!"

But the General doesn't do sh!t.

It's a unit without special powers or target priority. It may be reused as needed, but if damaged will require time until it can be used again. Downtime can be up to 24 hours if it is 'killed'. Once healed, it needs to be 'activated' in the castle to be usable in combat. Many, myself included, think the unit is still not viable for offense in its current state, beyond 'mop up' detail.

Generals are much stronger with the new update. Coupling them with some healers and they really own the battlefield (since they are healed, the cooldown is also shorter). The tech allowing to have 2 Generals at the same time is super strong.

How do you get two at the same time? When I activate one, the other deactivates.
