Bad chat issues last couple of days

Chat has been very inconsistent the last 2 days. The game will freeze when you open the chat. The chat will be empty sometimes. Other times I get 5+ of the same messages repeated by every player. Other times I complete a battle and it says I have 4000+ new messages. What's going on?

Same here last few days, must be some kind of game improvement...

Same here and some alliance mates are reporting the same. Opening chat sometimes freezes the game, the message indicator counter sometimes starts escalating even without new messages, and chat is sometimes completely blank.
