Hi Jimmy,
I used the last Rush of the Eras event to get to Industrial also - all the way back from a max gunpowder. I struggled a bit (for about a month) to keep my oil safe and to ride for it also. At that point I kept in medal range between 400 and 700. As soon as I upgraded my main and raiding army to the industrial level, I started climbing the medals with ease, and getting good amount of oil. For me, I "hit the wall" at medal range close to 1400. By this I mean, I cam continue to climb, but it is not worth the effort, and most likely the oil I ride will be stolen from me by globals in a couple of hours later.
So I kept in the medal range od 1000 to 1300 for the last month. In this range I was still being raided often by globals, and sometimes by industrials that decided to use tactics on my base, so last week I made a new decision to go back to the range 400 to 700. In the last week I was only attacked once by a global, and most attacks I suffer are people that want to drop medals also. I was only raided once seriously, which is good.
The disadvantages of being too low on medals for me are:
- The league bonus are crap. I was happy with the league bonus at the range 1000 to 1300. Mos of the times I got a troop card, which was good. Now back to the cider and metal.
- You have to hit next much more often, because there you will find a lot of enlightenment age bases with no very little oil.
The advantages are:
- You get resource stolen much less frequent
- When you are raided, what the raiders steel from you is much less than on higher medals
Based on the above I made decision to stay on low medal count (400 to 700) at least until I save enough oil for the factory and fort upgrades. Then maybe hit again the 1000 to 1400 medals, because by then I hope that my defense is already a much more mighty to keep most of the globals away - or not, lets see
So if I were you would drop medals and stay there. There are good bases to ride in the low medal count and you will loose fewer resources when raided. Usually I raide 10k of oil a day - more or less.
Hope that helps.
