I have just finished the Christmas Ball Event. I went to assign the ball and then it tells me I can't use it until I upgrade my museum to level 3, which is next age for me. So that's gonna be another week or more before I can use it. What was the point? This game is so stupid and not friendly to its users in any way! Ridiculously overpriced upgrades that take days and days, no way of earning crowns except for watching ads and playing more stupid games that don't even give you the crowns half the time for doing what it asked you to do. I'm very frustrated at this, and I know it's going to change absolutely nothing but for real, your game is stupid. I'm going to continue to play it, so maybe I'm the stupid one but it's only in hopes that you actually improve the game itself. Thanks for nothing, Nexom and Christmas Ball Event! Both of you were not worth the effort. Merry Christmas, you fun sucking leeches XX

To be fair it is not very obvious you need to be Industrial Age or higher to use legendary artefacts - I wonder how many people actually bought one before finding out.. I'm Enlightenment and can't use it either, though I'm keeping this one as should be going to Industrial during the rush event.

it is not very obvious BUT you need to know what level your museum is and what it can store. right?
And at least you get the artifact at the end. My secondary and third accounts are max medieval and do not get the artifact at the end. Only 5 chests!

wrathchild_78 - I totally agree. I knew I would not be able to use it yet. So you never got it at all?! That doesn't sound right/fair?
Edit: I had a museum artefact in my inventory in Medieval age, though I can't remember how I got it, to be fair.

They chose to have 5 chests as final prize instead of the legendary for ages below Gunpowder, possibly to avoid things like the OP here. I would happily have had that legendary sitting unused in my inventory for a couple of ages instead of the chests
If you hadn’t noticed nothing in this game is “free” I remember when people were not irate. They played the game and enjoyed it even though it was buggy. They came to the forum for information and to make suggestions. Now even if you can stomach what’s going on just wait a few weeks and they will f something else up.

Normally, the team would only include prizes that are appropriate for the Age you are playing. In this case, the team wanted to include a reward that could be utilized as you progress through the Winter for the Ages, since Town Centers could be instantly upgraded during select times. It's good feedback and something we will continue to consider with future events. Thanks!
The fact remains that there is an obvious lack of clarity regarding many of the game's offers. I purchased the extra house early on in the game only to find out that it wasn't an extra house, but an advance on the house from one of the later ages. "Truth in labeling" needs to be significantly improved.
