Controlling troops in the line of fire

Is there anyway to get troops out of fire beside the focused attack button? Especially after they destroy the target and go about on their own.they often find their way to a target that is in easy reach of tower fire. A majority of my defeats should have been easy wins that ended up this way.

if we had more control of our units attackers would have a 10 to 1 advantage. youd never lose attacks. so theyd have to increase the power of defense buildings to something ridiculous. you can have more control of your army when towers are doing 3000 splash damage
