Decoy Causing Serious Lag

TinSoldier The decoy tactic is causing serious lag issues, game crashes, and unbelievable troop loss.

When deployed, the decoy tactic causes a serious spike in memory consumption in turn causing the game to lag or freeze. This in turn prevents additional troop deployment such as planes or troop rally.

This issue has been reported so many times by many players yet nothing has been done nor has it been added to existing issues.

So the heck is going to be done about it? Is this your idea of nerfing decoy?

What generation ipad is that? I thought ipads coped a lot better with the decoy lag. Thought it was mostly and Android issue. On my Sony Xperia Z4 tablet it varies A LOT. Sometimes one decoy will eff up everything (even if I just rebooted it). Other times I can have four active without much lag.

What ive noticed if decoy was placed on a confined wall without gates then its going lag, especially if there's alot of defenders

I have noticed the same as Kurt the Jedi.

This is only an idea, but for me it seems, that it is a pathfinding problem:
Defenders are attracted to the decoy location. If there is no gate, they cannot "find" the way to the decoy location because they will not destroy their own walls. So each def troop seem to restart pathfinding again and again, until decoy is gone or troop is destroyed. This wastes a lot of resources and slows down any device, no matter which processor or OS.
If this is the problem, the solution would be to allow def troops to temporary run out of decoy range to pass a gate and then proceed to decoy on the other side of the wall.

This has been investigated and is being worked on by the team.

Any update on this? This is a total game killer it actually cost me my whole army because it lags so badly now by the time the decoy runs out or is destroyed, 2 FULL minutes of battle time are taken off the clock. This is a totally broken tactic and needs a hotfix asap.

Clearly it is triggering ALL waves of defenders to spawn simontaneously ignoring the per wave limit and defender maximum. It also apparent it is a pathfinding issue reported by Arminius.

For Android devices, decoy is a nightmare. I play Vainglory on my phone with no issue and yet my phone lags when using decoys in Dominations. I have reported it before. No fix yet.

Just wanted to share today's experience. In a replay of an attack on my base I had three decoys at he same time with no lag at all. Either the issue went away or the fact that none were placed in a confined area helped.

Update on what I am finding is causing the issue. Like others reporting when deployed inside a confined space leading to lag this is true.

I just deployed a decoy and realized it appears INSIDE WALLS AND BUILDINGS and therefore defenders and towers will not fire upon themselves and defenders can't get to the decoys.

This is really bad and not only does the pathfinding code go into an infinite feedback loop and needs to be fixed, the entire decoy tactic needs to be overhauled from the ground up to keep it from appearing inside walls and buildings where towers and defenders cannot reach.

Bought the brand new ipad pro 10.5" last week. Wow, what a difference! It doesn't care how many decoys I throw at it, and it doesn't matter if the decoys are placed where the defenders can't reach them. Problem solved. (I'm joking, of course - the problem is probably still there - the power of the pro is just masking the issue, I'm guessing).

I'm suffering quite badly with this one too, my war attacks are becoming quite frustrating. Once a decoy is deployed its very difficult to control the attack or deploy tactics, planes etc due to the screen freezing and lagging. This is using a freshly installed Samsung S2 8.0.

wow, I just had a serious case of decoy lag for the first time. Usually I have no problems, but I was getting maybe 1 frame every 2 seconds until all the decoys were killed (I just placed 1 decoy). After the decoys were destroyed, the framerate returned to normal. I have a high-end spec phone.
