DomiNations Update 12.16 - Detachments

DOM_SM_Update_1216_v1_EN_1920x1080.png

Greetings Leaders,

The future of warfare in DomiNations is ready for deployment! We’re introducing a brand new way to control your army in battle, new Automation Age upgrades, and two new attack-oriented Councilors. Read on to see what you can expect arriving in our update for next week's 3/26 rollout!

Detachments
DomiNations Update 12.16 looks to revitalize combat as you know it with Detachments! This new system will have you creating groups of Troops and Generals that can be quickly deployed together with a single tap. You can create up to three detachments and precisely control your army while attacking an enemy base.

DOM_Detachments_MedAgeLayout_4k.png

Detachment Editor
Organize groups of barracks troops, factory troops, and generals into up to three detachments using the new Detachment Editor. Each detachment may contain up to one Leader and three Supporting Units. Only a General may be assigned as a Leader, while Supporting Units may include barracks troops, factory troops, as well as other Generals.

Each Detachment has a maximum troop capacity, which is 40% of your army’s total troop capacity (rounded up). Troops may not be added to a detachment if doing so would exceed its troop capacity. However, you’ll run out of army troop capacity before you’re able to fill all three detachments–this is intentional. Generals in a detachment do not occupy any troop capacity. You can also choose to leave any space empty in a Detachment.

Deploying C.png

Deployment Restrictions
In battle, a detachment is deployed as a group. The leader is deployed first, if one exists, then the remaining units are deployed in order from left to right.

Detachments may not be deployed from Tactical Helicopters.

In your Troop Tray, the Troops and Generals that are part of a Detachment are highlighted with their corresponding letter and color. Troops and Generals that aren’t part of a Detachment are deployed the same way that you’re used to.

Rally Cooldown.png

Rallying Detachments
A deployed detachment responds to both the Army Rally as well as its detachment-specific rally.

The detachment-specific rally can be used to directly control units in that detachment separately from the rest of your army. To use a specific Rally, first select it by tapping on the Detachment you wish to control either on the right side of the screen or in the Troop Tray. Then tap the target or destination you wish for that Detachment to rally to.

In the image above, Detachment A is highlighted on both the Troop Tray and the Rally icon on the right. This is to indicate that you’re currently controlling Detachment A, and the cooldown timer shows that you have recently activated its Rally.

Clearing Icons in Battle
You’ll also want to notice the new red markers on the Troop Tray! After a Troop has been wiped out during battle, tapping this will remove that Troop Button, and all other buttons with this icon, from your Troop Tray! This will reduce the scrolling required for quick strategies as the battle rages on.

Automation Age Upgrades: Storehouse & Shipyard
This update adds a new level to the Storehouse & Shipyard. The Level 15 Shipyard receives new expeditions and the introduction of new exclusive Troop Tactics only available here. Based on player feedback, we also took this opportunity to update the expedition rewards for Shipyard levels 13 and 14 with stronger Troop Tactics.

New Councilors
Update 12.16 will introduce two new Councilors. Unlike our previous addition, Ada Lovelace, these two will appear with identical bonuses for War and Peace.

Hatshepsut (Diplomat)
Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt's most extraordinary rulers, defied tradition by becoming king around 1479 BCE. Hatshepsut’s most enduring legacy lies in her ambitious building projects, including the Karnak Temple Complex, the Red Chapel, the Speos Artemidos, and especially her grand mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari. She also revitalized trade and boosted Egypt's economy, most notably through a famous expedition to Punt. By focusing on internal stability and expanding Egypt’s reach through diplomacy and commerce, she fostered a flourishing and secure empire.

In DomiNations Hatshepsut will improve the effectiveness of Mortar and Heavy Infantry while reducing Enemy Wall Strength. Hatshepsut will be first available starting 4/14.

Born December 26th, 1791, Charles Babbage was an English mathematician, philosopher, inventor, and mechanical engineer who is credited with the original conception of a digital programmable computer. He invented the first mechanical computer, the Difference Engine, which led to his development of the Analytical Engine, a device that utilizes all the same fundamental principles that make up a modern-day computer.

Charles Babbage will help as a Councilor in DomiNations by reducing the strength of Enemy Towers and Anti Air Defenses. Charles Babbage will be first available starting 5/12.

Additional Fixes
  • Removed a vulnerability that allowed for seeing when Alliances were queued up for a World War.
    • This helps to strengthen our security improvements and anti-cheating efforts.
  • Updated the Alliance Contributor Daily Quest
    • If an Alliance has completed all Alliance Laws this quest will now automatically complete.
Edit 3/26: A hotfix to Update 12.16 is scheduled to release in a few days and will be a part of a forced update. This 12.16.1 hotfix will change the following:
  • Players will no longer get stuck in the opening tutorial for detachments if they have an active event building in their base when they update the app.
  • The “ready for battle” button in the Prepare for Battle screen will have a more correct touch target on wide aspect ratio devices
  • While it remains possible to add most trainable event troops to detachments, doing so with the Night Witch will no longer be possible as that created a bug which only allowed that troop to be deployed once in battle.

Detachment is good idea for attackers, why missed anything for defence players. Defence base : should have options which troops should be target first. For example: Missile sillo is defence building if players are allowed to set hierarchy which troops should be target first.

Upon first observation of the dock TTs, they all look dreadful and weaker than Aerial and Wall breacher TTs.
I will hold my final judgement until I see them after the release of 12.16.

While this is a long overdue addition, there are still many issues that haven’t been fixed. I encountered a low level base last week that had 30 houses. University speed up bug not fixed. Etc etc.

And, the imbalance of defense vs attack. Endless spawning troops with protect over and over is ridiculously OP. It should be a single spawn with protect. As an attacker, I am very limited to troops and tactics.

Is there any way to detach/lock troops that you want to be donated? And also to be able to cancel the troop that you donated by mistake. An interesting implementation would be a new specific field for troop donation, with the detachments this becomes even easier, so that you can leave a troop prepared for war donation, this could be an additional implementation of the collision, or it could be an additional space at the alliance gate, where these donation troops would be locked at the alliance gate and could not run the risk of being taken to the battlefield by the donating player.

Si van a beneficiar a los ofensivos con el sistema de destacamento entonces deberian beneficiar a los defensivos para que haiga un equilibrio de lo contrario seria un desastre

Yeah, many other things like missing battle reports, incorrect replays, incorrect heli targeting & range.

Not sure I understand, a general plus 3 supporting units upto 40% of troops capacity.
There's more than 9 types of units, so how does that work?

i dont like the new councilers make mortars stronger... they got enough. give others some love.

maybe start complaining more about them to change it... like they did with the liberty bell, it was mortar hp and damage but changed it to ranged infantry

So if you rally a detachment, they'll come running from wherever they are - even if they're scattered all over the base ..... mmm ... Maybe another name for detachments could be Suicide Squad.
Still, looking forward to player feedback on detachments in wars.

And, if a red marker appears in the troop tray, why not make it automatically disappear?

And finally, the storehouse?? I must have missed all those posts asking for this building's upgrade.
"And, if a red marker appears in the troop tray, why not make it automatically disappear?"

I absolutely agree! Why do we need markers and then manual cleaning when it can do all automatically?

BHG and LTG, do you play? Probably not. Otherwise, you would have a good idea that in battle there is no time or attention to be distracted by all sorts of nonsense.

No matter what the update, there is always some kind of crap in addition.

All take a exhale and calm down about mortars - they are for cheaters who only care about winning, BHG and LTG kindly increase this hole for cheaters.

big huge game only player that have higher age base like Auto an screw all other age base because they know who gives them money and who don’t

All of those top alliances are using unlimited premium TTs. Tupolevs, squadrons, stallions. They are not buying these, they are using a hack/glitch which is cheating. You can see this so why do you allow them to do it?

Even if it wasn't mentioned in your patch notes: I mainly like the update for the troop donation window. No more scrolling, now we can see at a glance which troops can be donated.
Minor drawback: for example, to donate 12 mortars we now have to select 2 stacks - this used to be possible with just one.
Hopefully in the future (through research?) the detachments will be as big as alliance troops requests (72 or 78 units)
