Don't Know Which Nation To Choose

Hey everyone.

I am still kind of new to the game, a little more complicated than clash of clans, but much more fun. So far I am in the bronze age and I am getting ready to go into the iron age. Before I advance though, I want to decide which nation to choose before I make a mistake and end up regretting my choice. I was at first thinking about joining the Greeks but I don't want my city to be a beacon for raiders. The Romans seem to be a popular choice and I was thinking about choosing them because I haven't been really good at attacking and they would give me the power I needed. But if I choose them, I believe the game will seem bland with me going on just to do a raid then waiting for my troops to be finished. Also, the architecture of the Romans looks like every other war/city building game and I am looking for something different.I know that all of the nations are pretty much equal, which makes it so hard to choose. Basically, what I am asking is what nation should I choose, what nation did you choose, and why do you like it? Thanks!

Hey there! Im in the same boat you are in my friend. I have been playing clash of clans for over 2 years now and this is the first game that has me hooked since then lol. I really wanted to be the Japanese but seems like most people don't know to much about them....Ill keep track of this thread and let you know what I pick and tell you about it. I guess ill be picking the nation in about 2-3 days. goodluck!!

I went with chinese, and it may not sound like much, but that 1 extra citizen is AMAZING. With 9 workers, I can upgrade three towers at once, or a 4-worker construction and a farm and an expansion. It means I try to avoid building 2 4-worker constructions at once, because I hate having 1 leftover worker, but I can tell I'm expanding way faster than is normal.

I have no comment about the defensive bonus. I'm sure it will eventually prove to be useful.

Hello. I also came from Clash of Clans. Of the nation benefits you can choose from, I think the Roman and German ones are best. Economic benefits are only useful to help you get to the end game, but once you're there, they will do nothing for you. The Roman and Germans, on the other hand, have lasting, permanent buffs: 10% bonus army, and Quick Rally. These buffs will give you an edge over other players when you inevitable end up with nothing left to upgrade.

Additionally, keep in mind that no matter how much economic boost you receive, you will never outpace those players who spend money on the game. This is another reason why economic boosts are not a truly viable progress route.

Finally, if this game eventually implements things like Clan Wars from Clash of Clans, you'll be sorry to have picked any of the economic routes. Your Alliance will be depending on you to destroy your opponents, but if you have chosen an economic route, you will be at an inherent disadvantage (especially if the matchmaking system attempts to match you against people with similar Age levels)

Okay, so far I am understanding that economic nations are not very useful and that the Chinese are helpful for being ahead of the competition. So this narrows down my options to the Chinese, the Germans, the Japanese, and the Romans. Like I said before, I am not overly fond of choosing the Romans since I want a whole new style of buildings. I like the Germans, but I haven't found the rally function useful enough to choose a nation that revolves around it. So I guess I would like to choose between the Chinese and the Japanese. I am still open to the Germans/Romans as well though, it's just that I like the defensive qualities of them.

Alright, after a bit of research on YouTube, I do think that the Japanese are the best choice for ME, because they have a good soldier unit, the Bushi, their town center can attack so you have a fighting chance if all of your defenses are destroyed, and the extended peace treaties can be tremendously helpful when you are trying to stock up for an upgrade and don't want to be bothered. Plus their buildings look nice. I'm going to hold off a little longer though, in case anyone decides to post some good information.

I just saw the Q&A developers stated that they are going to introduce the ability to change nations soon so honestly it won't matter which you pick since you will be able to change it. My advice go with greek so you can upgrade everything faster and cheaper and later on become roman.
