Empty leagues...

This is listed as a "known issue". Basically, under some circumstances, if a player clicks their league, no one is listed, not even themselves.

I have noticed that my average loss per defense increases when this happens. I often get 2 starred for 13-15 medals, which is otherwise rare (my defensive average is about 2.5 medals).

So my question is, how are leagues used in matching? And what exactly are leagues. Even when the list is populated, I usually see 6-10 names. What is this? Clearly, it's not everyone in my league, since many people empire 3, so what is it?

I think Ironangel implied elsewhere that the code that fills the lists at the season start isn't working, but the code that moves you from one list to the other when you move leagues is working. That would mean that everyone in the list is someone who has moved leagues since season start.

Yes, thanks cannibals. I think you're taking it one step farther than he did, but I believe that what you're concluding is accurate.

I'm still wondering, though, whether the matching system first pulls from this league list, and if so, is it possible for someone who doesn't actually have a league list to be matched with a broader range of opponents. I don't know the answer, but for me, I seem to lose greater numbers of medals when this happens. That might indicate that lower medal opponents match with me when I don't have a league list.

I'd love to get an official answer on this...

To the best of my knowledge, the code that decides what "bucket" you appear in for the Leaderboard is unrelated to matchmaking.
