Find an Opponent Question

Wondering how the "Find an Opponent" works. When I click on it I get a random opponent from 7 levels below me to 42 levels above me. Looking at other threads people are saying something about choosing an opponent. How do you choose an opponent? Thanks in advance for help.

It selects opponents for you mostly based on your age (+\- 1 ) and medals. The higher you grow on medals, the stronger opponents you get. Usually, it is smart to even drop medals on purpose and take easy loot on-the-go unless you have at least the most important attacking upgrades of the last available age, currently IA
