Greece: The Sucking Continues

Well another update has released and excitingly it's the long awaited Global Age release. However one issue this update and others before it have largely overlooked is the unbalanced disparity between nations, particularly when it comes to Greece. I've spoken about this in the past and rather than reposting my argument on why Greece is the worst nation in the game, I'll link my previous thread below since nothing's changed since then:

https://forum.nexonm.com/forum/nexo...iscussion-aa/488145-greece-the-nation-of-suck

Why they haven't bothered to fix Greece yet or at least acknowledge its mediocrity is beyond me. When you look at it, it's clear Greece's benefits are inferior to the other nations and its unique is second rate to France's. Now I know this doesn't concern most players here and deservingly so, very few players play as Greece to begin with. At times I feel like I'm the only Greek player here and the only outspoken voice for nation balancing.

To give you an idea of how unpopular the Greece nation is, look at the photo below of one of TimTrain's Fun Fact slides in his Game Developer Conference presentation. In other words, the only players playing as Greece are Greek themselves... Now, I don't know how big DomiNations is in Greece or large the Greek nation player-base is, but those numbers are not exactly fun and pretty unsettling for a nation that only appears once or twice on the leaderboard. Am I the only non-Greek player here playing as Greece?

I would hope there'd be reasons besides patriotism to choose Greece as your nation.

why dont u just change nation, it's gonna take a week or two to get 1000 crown by ingame quests if u dont wanna pay for it, i have done that before and switched from greek to romans, and to my bad luck, once i changed nation, heavy infantry got beaten down by their range nerf and they became unable to hit through walls anymore, and here i am, gathering another 1000 crown to change nation as i decided to french when i become IA, decided to keep romans till IA since cavalry is not so crucial below this age
either do that or u can wait to see the next nation to be released

I've thought about that in the past but have always held out hoping that a buff would eventually come in the next update, or the next.. or the next... So that now at this point, I've just kept Greece for the sheer novelty/absurdity.

From my observation, there are nations and wonders to be good in lower ages but their strong become less and less relevant with time. There was a glorious time of Greek cavalry here. Nowadays, if you play Greek in Iron Age you can get big benefit and command post have 2 horses that is very big defense at that age, when every one don't have horse!

So you enjoy the good beginning time and now you demands later equality too?

The good new is with Global Age, howitzer is the King of battle so others unique units become less relevant!

Another non-greek Greek player here, I agree Ivan that the nation itself definitely needs a buff particularly the quick finish ability which is mostly pointless, however I am very happy with the tank especially since the French one is ugly as hell.

I can't beat those statistics. I guess releasing a nation does increase appeal to players.

u can say french had the same good begining in early ages as greeks and still have it in late ages unlike greeks, so thats unfair too, greeks and french were punished by cavalry nerf, regained power with introduction of tanks, romans, germans, japanese punished by heavy infantry nerf, germans regained by the blessing buff
so there are cycles of nerfs and buffs that determine which nation is the best, not based on age, previously there were nothing but romans in top ranks, now i rarely see romans, and this is how devs make money out of revolution feature

Yes it's there was a time ago when the Greek HC was great in the early ages but that was a fluke. They've since then nerfed it 3 or 4 different times so now it's not even comparable to before. Also the Greek benefits don't scale appropriately across ages as they do with other nations. You could argue that other nations like France, Germany, etc. are ''timeless' since their benefits are consistent with age. Additionally, the Greek refund bonus is dependent upon upgrade duration and not something readily available like the battle benefits for Germans or Brits for example.

I agree that siege weapons have become kings recently. Regular tanks and with it Greek tanks have pretty much faded into obscurity since the advent of heavy tanks and popularization of artillery armies.

I do agree the Greek tank is much cooler looking and thankfully there's actually some history behind it's name this time around as stretched as it is. However with the current game, I have a hard time rationalizing using 10 barrack spaces for a single tank when the siege are more bang for your buck, and a couple heavy tanks will get you much farther than any regular tank based army.

Greece and Japan are in serious need of some buffs. It wouldn't hurt to give China some love as well.

Right now it seems 80% of the player base is either British or French. Its lame.

I would say triple the refund to 15% and extend the Free Zone to 1h at Iron Age and +1h per age.
