Idea: Is it possible to connect buildings with the Main Square through buildings using road?

For example, a building is connected by a road to the Main Square, then the next building is connected to this building by a road, etc. Those. the buildings are united as a chain with the Main Square, but still using roads. This will make it more interesting to build chains and more buildings can be connected to the Main Square.

This is not in the game now, I know. But this innovation would be interesting.

So a caravan would have to go through the front door then out the back - of each building - as it travels?

This is implementation specific. The point here is no longer about visualizing the passage of caravans, but about the benefits for the Main Square and the buildings that are connected to the Main Square by roads.

Although in many cities (military bases), as I see, they completely ignore this advantage and do not care about connecting the buildings with roads to the Main Square.

If we provide the opportunity to connect buildings in such chains, then it will be possible to connect more buildings to the Main Square.

Why not just ask for more roads?
A lot of roads does not always solve this issue; sometimes buildings are protected by walls and it will be more effective to build chains connected buildings. The ability to build chains of buildings will allow you to build more interesting solutions in construction.

First of all, it might be worth increasing the bonus from connecting buildings with roads to the Main Square. For example, so that buildings connected by roads to the Main Square, as well as those connected in such chains, not only increase the life points of the Main Square, but also receive bonuses to life points themselves. Then maybe many will stop building cities with buildings completely isolated around by walls.
Sometimes all desire to attack such cities disappears only because this is not a battle, but wandering through “labyrinths” of walls - the city clearly loses in defense weapons or incorrect tactical placement of defensive troops and buildings, but only wins because the attacking troops simply get confused and get lost in these “labyrinths” ". Some buildings, I agree, can and should have solid defenses from walls around and closed at all, but this is not the same as building a cellular structure from walls and many buildings isolated in them. I understand that this can be used as a defensive tactic, but there is no pleasure in attacking such a city. I simply ignore such cities in PvP.
It is important to understand that long-range guns do an excellent job with such isolated buildings, but the troops get confused in the “labyrinths” due to the weakness, perhaps, of the artificial intelligence that controls the advance of the troops.

And just the idea of connecting buildings in a chain with roads will allow you to protect the more buildings with walls, and at the same time receive a bonus from connecting the buildings with roads to the Main Square. I have already given a clear example in the picture.

The main idea is to connect buildings in a chain precisely with the help of roads, and not just all the buildings that stand nearby are in contact with the building that is connected to the Main Square with the help of a road.

I'm also against connecting many buildings too easily to the Main Square - this should still be a task worth thinking about.

Actually all is doing is using building instead of road. Idea of road bonus was for you to figure way to connect as many building without just lining ur building next to each other.
Building chains or roads would have same effect. Take more skill to figure way to connect road while still keeping tower placement.
My eyes it’s simple if ur wanting more bonus hp then just ask for more roads.
Plus if you allow building to connect to one another I am hiding Z Tower flame thrower AA and other tower behind buildings where an attacker can not target. Just saying

And that takes the 'thinking' out of the base design. Let's just link everything via buildings and make our base super efficient without much effort.
Some of us like a challenge.

Is it possible to get more roads only by moving to each next era?

I’m not particularly worried about my city - I connected the buildings with roads to the Main Square as much as I could.
Otherwise I wouldn't have asked this question...

But what convinced me most of all was the answer that buildings can replace roads
