Global Chat is a useful idea for your game. Global Chat helps players to meet each other, to find each other easier, to match with each other and to make new alliance .
without Global Chat, most of the players don't know each other and they choose alliances which they are completely unfamiliar with it, but if they have Global Chat, they get to know different alliance and different players before joining alliances.
you can make different servers for Global Chat to prevent bustle and players can be chosen randomly to different servers

I second. I dislike not having GC channels. Though I use mute often, I still prefer having the GC than not having it.

for managing better, we can add more options to Global Chat. For example, mute players, report players and other options which makes Global Chat better
