League Season Ending Awards?

I always wondered what those "Season ends (#)w (#)d" actually do other than indicating some unimportant statistics.
How about it, let's say you're top 10, 5, or 3 of the league before the end of the season, wouldn't it make sense to get rewarded for being the top dog?
It gives the stargazers and star-chasers a new inspiration.

I think it's a good idea to reward players who are able to stay in the same league before the season ends. in other words: if you don't relegate, you get an extra prize or something. same if you upgraded your league from where you started in the season.

But the people at the top of the leagues always have more medals than the league threshold (similar case as the bottom). Presumably achieved by being near the top of threshold and gaining surplus medals from defensive wins, before they log back in and get bumped into the next league.
Maybe if they were able to fix that, and actually show the entire league instead of a portion of it, this idea could be implemented.

+1. I don't think a lot of people use the league season and this would be a solid way to draw some attention to it.
