I just wanted to share a few thoughts about tactics usage before and after the rebalance. I could also use some help from you guys understand what tactics work better now.
PRE REBALANCE
Barrage
Purely offensive. You could take 6 of them and use 3 on an area with many defensive buildings and take them out. Another 3 on another difficult area and the defence was crippled.
A favorite of mine pre industrial age but I was using it even in global in certain cases.
First Aid
Never used it unless I was playing with Heavy tanks only
Sabotage
With the silo arrival, it became a bit more useful but after the nerf of requiring 2 tactic slots, I stopped using it.
Protect
The most useful tactic up to industrial and before the arrival of silo. After the silo, I transitioned to decoy.
Demolition
Very useful as I could use 1 demolition and take out certain key buildings like antitank guns. Or use 3-4 and kill a level 1-2 silo.
Betrayal
I only used it up to industrial age for heavy tanks as later on decoy was much better. Basically none uses it.
Decoys
The most useful tactic as we all know. Not much to say here. It enabled a player to aim high and actually test his strength against harder opponents.
POST REBALANCE
Barrage
Unchanged stats. Damage is completely useless. You need a lot more to take out a cluster of defensive buildings. You raised the HP by 250-300% but the bararge damage remained the same? seriously?
First Aid
Now that many players switch to HT builds, Aid will become more a standard in our line up.
Sabotage
Again we switch to using sabotage more often but the 2 slots are still a problem.
Protect
Haven't seen it being used by others. I don't use it either.
Demolition
You raised the damage but still you need at least 2 to take out a building so it is not cost effective. Most people use 3-4 to take out certain defences but it is not the best choice imho.
Betrayal
None is using it still.
Decoys
The biggest nerf in the history of dominations. Completely ruined a tactic. Even the decoy traps are better now. Very few are still using them now. They last no more than 2-3 secs even with the uni research done. Needs more HP. The duration could remain as it is now.
So that leaves us with what?? Have HT armies and First Aid to be cost effective? Because with a normal army consisting of a few tanks, artillery, foot troops and engineers, nothing seems to really work adequately. It takes so much time to kill the buldings now that foot troops don't last through the whole battle anymore.
Fellow dominators please share your thoughts and do tell what tactics you currently use with what troop combo...
