You should only lose medals if you lose a battle if you lose over 50% of your troops. This will stop players deliberately losing battles in order to keep their medals down.

The option to lose medals is necessary as long as your medal amount is tied to your ability to farm loot.

Dropping medals and raiding is a vital part of the game. Join in if it's upsetting you. Try getting 8.5 mill food for troop UG in global with out doing this. It would take you a week instead of two hours.
