Matching opponents

Today at 04:00 UTC I was attacked by a player with 162 exp. (I have 91) and it was (almost) funny!
he had TWO generals, both lvl 30.. MacArthur in a tank and Cleopatra riding in armored vehicle. He also had Zeppelins and bi-planes flying over my place...
How exactly does the opponents matching work?
Same age? Similar # of medals? Experience points?
All I know that this "match" was totally mismatched.. His win was as easy as taking candy from a child..
How about that NEXON?

Matchmaking is based on medals only, and within one age of you. Level is not a factor.

I am still not happy with the matching opponents in this game.
Today I've been attacked by a guy from Industrial.
He had 4 tanks, 2 supply trucks, 3 artillery, 10 shock infantry.
Total destruction, all 5 stars and me -32 medals.
I can't even dream about the stuff he had. All I could do is to watch replay of the battle and actually laugh
Medal count shouldn't be the main factor. I can shed medals by sending a couple of guys and lose several fights, get my medals to just above 400 in order to keep getting shipments at the dock and then what? Do I get to kill some poor soul with much less strength?
Age SHOULD be first factor, medals and level second and third.
That's what I am saying...
