measly atomic upgrades for transports and fighters

Well, I was pretty excited to boost my airstrip to atomic to access the new cool looking planes, especially as the dominations wiki showed massive increases in damage and hitpoints for transports and fighters.. so i was very bummed to see that the upgrade to atomic transports (Hvy Mrk1) is extremely lame, with less than a 5% boost to hitpoints and less than 5% boost to paratrooper damage.
My fighters are just reaching global (mk4) but once again the boosts were much less than indicated on the wiki page (about 5% hp and damage).

So, are there bigger boosts for either of these planes with further upgrades or is it a continuous, tedious and very oil expensive crawl of 5% increments?

Did i mention that this would be really tedious? Boring? and that each measly upgrade costs 170-220K oil?

Nb4powerup is this a glitch? or is the Mrk4 transport supposed to have a more significant boost?

Wiki stats can be edited by anyone, and many who edit them do not take into account all the boosts they may currently have (from wonders, blessings, etc). Ideally, the numbers should only reflect the base value of a unit, but that would be tedious for most people to manually do. That's why the wiki stats can be all over the place. Planes have had diminishing returns since the global age, so nothing surprising here. Many may disagree, but I tend to think planes and transports are OK as is. They should complement an army, not be the crushing strength behind that attacking force. Bombers should be looked at, because as of right now, they are almost useless.

If previews are any indication, Amelia Earhart will be the next university leader. If planes become too OP now, imagine the poor balance will become when Nexon unlock this new leader.

Planes have been nerfed a bit in the last update, as Versailles doesn't apply to aircraft any longer. The Aviation chapt 5 research gives 10% hp, which is very good.

I have max planes, and they die noticeably more easily since the last update.

You can assume that Air Defenses, S.A.Ms, Redoubts will all at some point get research in the University. Castles will likely get more research on top of the current HP research. So you can dismiss any gain from Amelia Earhart, it will be short term.

Hey Vincent :)
I agree that planes shouldn't be overpowered, but it would be nice if there were occasionally more significant boosts (10% instead of 5%) when you reached a new age/plane design... give some incentive for investing all of that oil!

Hey Brand!
I think until atomic age, plane upgrades scale appropriately with defense buildings upgrades. However, the upgrades to planes are divided into 6 different stages per age (e.g. biplane mk1-3 and triplane mk1-3 for industrial & fighter mk1-6 for global, likewise for bomber and transport). A single (or more) increase of +10% will significantly tilt the balance in favor of planes over the corresponding defenders and defensive structures, as you will still have another 5 stages to complete for that age. I actually think a single increase of +10% is no problem; but in that scenario, there has to be less stages of upgrades for planes per age (i.e. you only upgrade cannons and horses once per age, no?). Atomic age is a wildcard, as we see massive boosts in atomic defenses, but so far only 3 stages of upgrades per plane lineage. I'm very interested in seeing where the game goes in the atomic age, as it is very hard to keep planes alive against a maximally (or near maximally) upgraded base.

Also, SebQuattro reminded me of an interesting point. There are university increases to towers, defenders and many defensive buildings, but no university increase to plane health/attack, nor air defense for that matter. I'm sure as atomic age matures, there will be more updates to address some of these missing components.
