I think there should be some sort of ranking system for surviving troops in battles like Civ. Each soldier that survives could be awarded a bit of an attack or defensive boost along with the chance of going private, colonel, etc. Or perhaps taking troops and grouping them into small specialized companies. For example a first wave company that would have a high attack rate but extremely low defense. You're sending them to breach not live.

These seems like a really cool idea, I always would like to see what individuel troop is ranked at.
