What to upgrade first? From 1st to 2nd to 3rd.
Some of these upgrades are so redicilious... for example the carabineer only gives +20 hp and +4 dmg or so for 3.8mil food -.-

I guess mine is somewhat similar to what Jane Monroe answered. I play the Koreans so I first upgraded the heavy singijeon. Then I researched the cannon followed by supply train. My 4th research was the wall sapper, but I recommend researching cuirassier before you research wall sapper. In short, I've done these upgrades in order: Heavy singijeon (musketeers), cannon, supply train, wall sapper, then cuirassier. My next upgrade will be fusilier and I doubt I'll bother researching carabineer raider since I never use them. Really the most important troops in the game is ranged infantry, siege (what cannon/bombard/artillery are called), health cart, and heavy cavalry. I used to use heavy infantry troops a lot when I played the Japanese nation, but ever since I switched to the Koreans I've stopped using them. Heavy infantry aren't really needed IMO especially in the EA and IA because they get killed too easily and quickly. Ranged infantry are much better troops and can do damage from a distance. That doesn't mean you shouldn't research ashigaru (I know I will research fusilier, but I reserve it for last since I won't research EA raiders). I used to bring a wall sapper with me to every battle, but since I extremely rarely use it it's no longer a part of my army.

Basically I would research musketeers, cannon, supply wagon (then get supply train ASAP) and cuirassier in that order. I suppose you could research ashigaru first since it's your unique unit and if you use it, but a lot of players who play the Germans or Japanese in the EA or IA don't use the unique heavy infantry, so it's up to you. I just don't think heavy infantry units are important enough to research first, second, third, or even fourth.

It totally depends on your raid style. If you go with a raider army to get resources and infantry to take out the TC then those are what you should upgrade first. Like many of the others I go with a mixed siege/ranged infantry/health/heavy cavalry army so those are the ones I upgrade first.

Always start with your nations unique troop .. what you do second is dependant on your attack style.

Ok guys, I just spend 250 crowns on speeding up the temple level 5 building and spend 600 on turning my nation to French! I thank you all for your input Jane Monroe vincentdang4 JMasunikov The Huns but now im french, has your opinion changed? For example, upgrading my horsemen/tanks first sounds alot more attractive than first. Maybe I should go with > Tank > Musketeer > Cannon > Healing cart > Fusilier > Wall sapper?

Tanks/hvy horses, archers/rifles, healing carts, artillery, infantry, raiders, wall sapper ... Just a suggestion as that is how I view their importance as a french player

Yeah that order seems good, especially now that heavy cavalry is your unique unit and it's a useful unit in the game.

As French, all I did was built raiders and wall sappers with training blessing. Never had to stop raiding. Take raiders, drop a few on multiplayer base, collect loot, take next batch, etc, etc. When short on diamonds, switch to mix army to 5-star some bases. Resources come so easy if you don't care about medals. Miss those good old days... might drop medals now :)

My thinking is go for the upgrades that give the biggest bang first. Ranged and Supply get a 16 and 17% improvement on upgrade from Enlightenment to Industrial. That said Ranged is probably a bigger part of most armies than Supply and so should be done first. Siege gets a 13% boost going into Industrial and should go third (or even second). Again it's probably a bigger part of your army. Tank only gets a 7% boost going into industrial when you include the extra troop spaces it takes. Unless you use a lot of tanks do it last (of these four). Tanks do get a better range (going from 3/4 to 3) but as far as I can tell still can't shoot over walls so that decreases some of that range bonus.

Ok with my current army makeup I did all the math. Here's what I came up with:

Ranged - 16% increase, 30% of my army, 4.8% better army
Siege - 13% increase, 36% of my army, 4.7% better army
Supply - 17% increase, 14% of my army, 2.4% better army
Heavy Cavalry - 7% increase, 20% of my army, 1.4% better army

Also you can add in information about upgrading barracks to see where they fit in it.
Going from 120 troop space to 125 gains about 4.1% Going from 130 to 135 gains about 3.8% This would suggest you should upgrade barracks after Siege but before Supply if your army is composed as mine is.

I will do just that! I'm so satisfied with the french heavy calvary... they can take a serious beating lol.
And vincentdang4 I took your advice man. DROPPED FROM 900 TO 400 MEDALS! But I gained roughly 25k Oil and now my factory is leveling up haha! Was going for an airstrip but then I realized my oil reserve is only level 1 so I went ahead and invested 1.2mil gold in that so i can get me an airstrip soon! Thanks guys.

Thanks for the in-depth guide man! Regardless of your math, i will choose to upgrade my special unit Heavy calvary first. Followed by the ranged infantey and cannons. I'm currently at merely 95 troop space because 9mil food seems too much for 15 extra space. I WILL upgrade them but im slacking with blacksmith upgrade as you can see... what'd you do?

@FeridGurbuz, it'll help you if you prioritize your barracks ahead of the troop upgrades. It'll help to research Standing Army from the library too, if you have upgraded the library. Larger army provides an immediate gain, over stronger troops. I would prioritize the barracks, and have the troop upgrades in parallel (since they don't require workers). If possible, the Standing Army chapters in parallel too.
Now that you have unlocked the training blessing, you shouldn't have problem finding resources for these upgrades.

Agree with Flash on this - then I agree with you Ferid. Make the most of that tank unit. Ugly looking things but they're formidable - or, as the French say, formidable.

Personally I would go raider first, because i'm doing the low medal raider strategy, which still gives me most loot/hour. But you really need only riflemen -> artillery -> tank, rest are less useful.

I suppose romans would be an exception. Most players i know just want the extra 10% troops to use for archers or horses.
