New Resource Sink Needed

I never thought I would reach this point, but I will have max walls in a month or so. Suddenly I understand the complaints about having nothing to spend food and gold on! So I am starting this thread now so that there will be a new resource sink by the time I need it ;)

Here are some suggestions:
  • museum supplies
  • speed ups
  • another wall level
  • wall traps hidden in wall segments
Please add your ideas below.

In other games the “trader” offers to trade one resource for another resource. If Marco Polo offered oil in exchange for food or gold it would help.

i think the fear of having a resource sink is that they can be abused where you can keep trading a less needed resource for a valuable resource. to mitigate against this you can have the requirement that you are actually at max capacity before being able to trade.

I agree, but I don’t think it should be anything that will further buff defence, such as a new wall level would.

It it would be awesome to spend resources on visual aesthetics. Why do all the baes shave to be in the forest? I personally would love to have my base look as if it were in the desert.

I've been full of resources for months now. When a building finishes I spend on something else, and within a few hours am full again. It means I only raid now for NTGs. Even oil is usually close to full, and what oil I need just comes with NTG raiding.

Raiding for NTGs is quite boring. The new content in recent updates - archive building, museum stuff - is pretty lame, too. Only remotely interesting thing is new factory troops, but even that isn't terribly novel by now.

This new 'rebalance' by the devs is the perfect opportunity to rebalance the poor NTG rewards.

I love the idea of new walls. Even if they are expensive and just a tiny boost, gives those who like to grind thing out more purpose than they have now

Start an alt. Find something better to do. Enjoy having the resources you need whenever an upgrade finishes. No new wall levels, please.

Either have your resources be eligible for exchange at 90% max capacity in an age, or make speed-ups (even if it's just the short ones) be a commodity than can be purchased with said resources. I hit maxed walls months ago and, even though it shouldn't be, I find day to day raiding very discouraging seeing millions of loot disappear into the digital aether for no gain. Raiding for NTG's is bogus considering the complete absence of certain nations in late game and the nuisance of getting nothing for 5 stars far more often than the percentages would suggest. So I don't raid as much on my main, and to be honest my alts were created just to kill time between troop builds on my main. Meaning my overall gameplay has dropped significantly. This has been an issue, albeit a minor one, for years. One that could have been solved, or at least mitigated, with the slightest bit of creativity on the part of the devs.

The museum is a good resource sink but you always reach the bottleneck of needing thousands of blueprints

Interesting idea, but I need NTGs for war, so I need at least 10 victories per day.

I used to play a great game called Travian where you could spend resources in a ‘Temple’ to conduct celebrations that used to provide timed boosts for offence or defence or to gain XP. Not a bad thing IMO.

I already have 5 alts. Yes new wall levels, my base is still not invulnerable ;)

Nice idea. Each celebration would count towards an achievement, and you would get experience points after 5, 25, and 100 celebrations. during a celebration, which would last 1 day, everything (research, upgrading, training) would go 10% faster.

i'm a poster child for this topic .. i finished coldwar age walls in a week during the cwa event.... on two bases.
(there were complementary events and i have good resource artifacts so it was surprisingly easy)

what we need is an open-ended sink.
i think the first two bullet points (museum supplies, speedups) are great ideas.
but theoretically if you're obsessive enough museum supplies isn't open-ended if you get good artifacts and completely upgrade them.

'buying' speedups in exchange for your maximum resource capacity is a 'gold standard' to compare other things against; it's the best idea here.

it's an open-ended resource sink that can be controlled by nexon;
i'd be overjoyed with a trivial 30m speedup for hours of my attention building resources that would otherwise go nowhere.

Maybe they can use rss to buy statues of famous people to decorate their base. People max their mill market have plenty of space and the statues can have minimal hp to minimise the impact on war and more attacks. They can make statues ridiculously expensive.

It sounds like we are willing to have some strict conditions for our new resource sink, e. g. we must be maxed out on the resource (with maxed resource buildings for the age too?), and we don't want much in return. Some decorations for our base, 30 minute speed ups, a new achievement to work towards, some small production boosts.
