I don’t know if this has been posted before, but I did some numbers on University research, and I find it is very difficult to keep engaging in this game given the enormous amount of resource (time and workers) drain on various latterly added “features”.

There are currently 4 leaders available in University: Da Vinci, Catherine, Sejiong and Salain , each has 100 levels divided into 10 stages on 5 different University lvls + 1 final research.

Take Da Vinci for example, Uni Lvl1 research are Mortar Damage, Cost and Hitpoints, each has 10 lvls with 3 workers, each will take 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10 = 55 days, and lvl 2 research will increase this by 1 more worker and 10 more days per research, lvl3 will add another 1 more and 10 more days. You apply this math to the entire Da Vinci matrix, you would get following:

55 days x 3 (lvl1) + 65 x 2 (lvl2) + 75 x 2 (lvl3) + 85 x 1 (lvl4) + 95 x 2 (lvl5) + 14 days (the last Polymath research? Assuming 14 days, the longest research time) = 734 days or more than 2 years.

This assuming you can commit 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 worker per stage non-stop, which is impossible to do. And you have 3 other leaders to worry about plus regular upgrades and expeditions.

Da Vinci = 734 days
Catherine = 744 days
Sejong = 734 days
Salain = 854 days

This is just for university research along, and assuming you can continuously research them non-stop (which is impossible to do again, given workers shortage in late stages).

This creates a very difficult dilemma to players like myself to choose either wait minimum 3 years to grind everything out before upgrading or upgrade to next level knowing that lack in research could put myself in a even more disadvantage position in game play and war. And also I find it unreasonable for game design to put this long wait period, the entire life-span for this game could be less than that, IMO. Thoughts?

obviously nexon wants you to spend money.... they are focused on a pay to play model...

The point is, university is for premium players only,
impossible to max out at least one leader if u don't pay real money (and not just a reasonable amount)
it's a game killer feature that I don't think many will have it specially that time is not the only obstacle but also the ridiculous amount of workers required

I'm certain your figures are correct but only if you want/need everything.

Take Da Vinci, I've done the mortar damage and HP to max, now I'm doing the minimum 50% to get to the howitzer research, I will max that and then I'm done with him I couldn't care less about the rest.

Yes it's a grind, but not as bad as you say. To me the point of the university is to pick and choose.

Like Hammer said, the point is to pick and choose. Some people seem to think the game is unplayable if you don't max your university. That's just... stupid. You are not at any sort of disadvantage if you don't max it, because guess what, nobody has it maxed. Except maybe a couple of top crown buyers, and if there really exist people who bought enough crowns to max their uni, we should all be grateful to them, because they're the people that fund this game's development.

Yes, it's like the armory upgrades, you only upgrade what you need and use, right?
