There are different levels on the oil wells and each produces different amount of oil. All I know is that he first level produce 25/h and 2 level 34/h.

So far oil wells seem as useless as farms are for food - 99% of the oil you need will be stolen from somebody else.

Caravans, farms, roads and oil wells have their uses. No, you can't develop your settlement with them but they at least go some way to claw back resources lost in the last defence, particularly since you'll have gotten resources back with the storage blessing too. That's how I view them now and even have a second layout with 630% road connections to maximise road income during a PT (11,840/hr).

Damage limitation. :p

Invest your time and gold in something else.. not worth it. I built everything that required oil without the need of oil wells.

Oil is the close to Gold as the most valued commodity. Lots of upgrades will require lots of oil. It is just that oil well production pales when compared to the need. Best to loot oil for your needs.

Oil is needed for general upgrades, Napoleon and MacArthur from scratch and every general from level 10 onwards. Once you reach that level, you'll need 40k+ oil aevery 2 days to not have your armory stay idle. Factory units and air field units upgrades take a lot of oil as well.

I had 135k oil sitting in storage for weeks while my armory was busy with regular troop upgrades using food. If I had to do it again, I would have alternated food and oil upgrades to never have overflowing oil. It's quite rare to find, especially now that people are using it a lot with new upgrades, there's less to loot.

This is why they are useless, they provide a laughable amount of oil.

I upgraded them to lvl2 so no oil is wasted while I sleep. Lvl3 doesn't seem worth it. Takes 21 days to make up the lost oil due to construction time.
