Hacks and cheats have unfortunately compromised the game. To deny any use of crown manipulation and troop count "modifications" among the player-base is delusional.
You may question the existence of cheaters, asking "but I'm not running into any maxed out bases or rampant amounts of attacking troops?". Like many fellow players have stated before, all you have to do is search the Leaderboards, look at the top players and alliances, and visit player bases that are at max level (approx. lvl 130+)
Maxed bases exist and will continue to exist unless the game and server architecture is thoroughly revamped. All of us beg the moderators to fix and/or relay the message to the developers to fix the game to remove the cheaters, and time after time the response is to submit a ticket to customer support. The struggle between submitting CS tickets maxed bases constantly appearing is prominent and proves weary for the player.
My Theory:
I wondered why for so long, the moderators asked and continue to ask us to submit CS tickets to remove cheaters? Why couldn't they jump into their databases and remove them themselves (compare the player's current crown amount with how much money they've spent)? I've come to a possible conclusion that they can't.
The current hack exists to modify the client-side code (meaning the code that's in the app on your device) in a such a way that when you clear debris, you receive a large amount of crowns. This means that all the data and information for crown amounts is stored on your device and may not be located on their servers. They ask you to submit CS tickets because cannot tell who's cheating on their servers.
To put it in kinder words, they kinda screwed themselves. They need to know the names of people who have cheated and see screen caps so they can go into their database, find that user's player name, and remove him. What does this mean in the long run? That as people start to reach the current end-game, it will be difficult to distinguish hardworking and honest-paying users from cheaters. People who play the game without hacks and cheats can be falsely accused. In order to fix the current cheating scandal, they'd have to rewrite the code that's on your app and device and move it to their servers. They need to move all information (and if it doesn't exist, write new database entries) about the player's crown count, current level, and money spent onto their servers.
I sincerely hope management makes the right call and develops a new way to track cheats and hacks. They remove the competitive element from the game, and make it difficult for honest players to progress.
I ask sincerely to the moderators that you take some time to gather your team, run through the top player and alliances yourselves, and take note of bases that seem to be hacking. It should not have to be the player base that spends all their time hunting down cheater bases and writing up and submitting a support ticket. They should be able to PLAY the game and not have to work as a Quality Assurance tester.
