Roman vs French (vs British?)

Hi all, I'm new to the forum though been playing Dominations for month, now I'm an early Industrial.

I'm using Roman, I changed in GP age from previous Chinese.

So far I have been fine with them, but when I changed, Roman were more predominant and been more seen as #1 w/o doubt, now looking at top players, I see more French, and after last updated, British.

I'm doubting now is French is better than Roman? Assuming Ally gate filled up, let's compare:

Roman industrial army: 148?
French industrial army: 135 + 6 extra ally = 141

And ally troops are better than regular troops, because you can have the UU you wish there... In an ally big and diverse enough...

Then there is the unit, I don't use UU at all, I just don't know really how to use it well... French UU is +20% health +15% DPS, let's say it's a 17.5% better than a regular

Roman Army bonus is a 5% only over French, only 7 spaces, 60 spaces a 17.5% can be seen as 70.5 spaces, +10.5 spaces...

SO then, is French better than Roman? I'm thinking about it lately. Maybe the problem is the % of room in the army you dedicate to the Roman UU, guess I'll have to go to at least 20 UU? To make it actually worth. Also a low tanks army, like 3, less French bonus. A big one, like 8, greater French...

Then there is the issue of wars, I can't donate anything UU to other people, and being French, that French industrial tanks would be awesome for lower players...

Brits seems also very good, but many members on my alliance are already Brits, and I see the +15% bonus won't be that relevant later in late industrial, what I see not that far from here...So more likely Rome vs French.

What do you think? Should I swap? Or learning other strategies, with Roman, they are still good?

Thanks!

The main reason to choose French is the reduced training time. Extra alliance troops is just a nice extra French bonus. UU is much less relevant in the Roman-French debate because typical 100%-armies neither have many soldiers nor many tanks.

How would you compare the reduced training time to the Roman's extra troop space? How do both scale later (IA/EA) on in the game?

I don't know about Roman training time, but with French plus a training blessing, I can build my entire mixed army from scratch in around 7 minutes. That translates to more attacks, more medals/loot per hour, etc. if you're very active.

If you are interested in total damage output, consider the German bonus of 15% damage on ALL units is superior to 10% extra troop space. German uu sucks, but it's like getting a uu for everything. Something else to consider.

I second that - my EA German nation has the best 'controllability' and 'punch'. However, l play as both Roman & Brit in lA and l have more fun with Brits.

The longbow suits my playing style and the +1 range has the best 'returnability' of troops. However, l will admit that my Brit Nation only really came into its own when l hit EA -my German GP nation was more fun before EA.
