Rushing from IA to AA with the upcoming Event

I saw a post and meant to respond to it about someone saying they were talked out of doing just this. There were a couple people that said do it anyways.

Here is the only reason why i am going to do it.

Oil Discount Events.

Thats it. So lets say i build responsibly and max most or all of my base prior to going to the next age. During that time we get a 50% of castle event or air strip etc. Well currently i have those buildings maxed for my age and that event weekend is almost an entire waste for me. Going to AA will allow me to always be able to take part in the weekend event that has oil discounts.

I know ill take a pounding but saving 100k+ oil is just too valuable to pass up.

Ok so i said only reason above, its not the only reason but the most important factor in my decision. Saving nearly a month in instant upgrade time on the TC is also a reason. I will also be able to upgrade armory right away without building any mills since they will be 50% off.

I'm not going to talk you out of it, I just want to provide my insights. I maxed my offensive prior to abandoning leveling global to max and went atomic. It was really hard in the beginning, as you will miss those juicy IA bases that were filled with resources, but there are still plenty of rushed global or atomic bases that you could take easily. Be aware that those are in lower medal range though and you're not gonna be in a high league any time soon.

But also as you already mentioned I was able to save plenty of oil during the castle, factory, airstrip events. Also sometimes air or factory units are also discounted in the armory so you'll save there additionally. My recommendation would be to push the offensive ASAP and stay in the lower medal range. Even if your base gets rekt - you'll get a peace treaty most of the time.

Not sure if you save 100k oil, or lose a lot more being constantly smashed by atomics. You definitely save time though...

If you stay in global 3 months. You will be able to take advantage of any oil discount event. Its very rarely to put twice the same oil discount building in 2-3 months. Also in that time you will be able to upgrade your basic army(cannons,archers,tanks,supplies etc) and some descent defensive buildings like mortars stables and traps. Also if we see the cold war age in the next 3 months forget any oil discount,and all these monsters will advance in no time, atomic will become a dead zone. I remember i advanced to Industrial 2 months before the atomic released, these 2 months were very hard to grow but after that IA was a peaceful place to stay. I think it will be much better for you to stay in global for some time until you have some descent base.

LordJestix yeah that was me posting about rushing from IA to AA. Your reasoning makes for a good case to do so. Why I'm not doing it is because the more experienced AA players and leaders of the group I'm in (top 100 group) have definitively said no because I will get crushed repeatedly.

This age rush seems to be a primer for Cold War release this winter as they push players higher to seed more Atomics. In which case Global will become the new peaceful place.

Now if there was a definitive answer on when Cold War is coming I would rush to atomic in a heartbeat but since there isn't, I'll stay curled up in global at low medals

LordJestix , I am doing the same IA to AA rush. Many of the same reasons you list, plus I want the extra house (never bought a starter pack). And I was planning to rush both of those Town Center upgrades at some point, so catching them for free is like saving 3500 crowns.

It's hard to pass up an instant upgrade, but I don't know if I would jump two levels. I'm level 171 global and will be jumping to Atomic with the sale, but my original plan was to camp in global for some time. We'll see if I regret this. But going from IA to AA, it will take you months to even get your troops up to speed unless you've saved up a ton of crowns or plan to purchase a bunch.

Instant Global TC on the first day possible during the industrial rush.
7 days to global armory (finishes on the first day of the global rush).
10 to get ranged siege and ranged infantry (or tank) upgrades. Howitzers are a must.
Upgrade Atomic TC on the last day of the global rush. Build last house. 2 more workers FTW!
Three days into atomic, once ranged siege and infantry upgrades are done, crown the atomic armory. Start ranged siege and infantry (or tank and whatever) upgrades again while 50% off. 12 days later, atomic primary troops.
Somewhere in there, upgrade my airstrip for an extra plane. 4 fighters!

29 days from jumping to global to having field howitzers and atomic ranged infantry or 2nd level global tanks, spending less than 1500 crowns. The other 2000 I am saving on not upgrading town centers can go into a fort upgrade or something.

That is my plan, we'll see how it goes. I have saved a pretty good number of crowns, to rush any on sale oil buildings where I can raid enough resources to get them half off. After the sale ends, there will be a years worth of upgrades, but I always planned to spend minimal time in global (as in enlightenment, which also didn't add workers). This just compresses the timescale a bit.

Nice plan yemen! The problem I'm having is that I want to upgrade some defensive buildings during the rush weeks, which at this level is 12 to 14 days. Makes it hard to plan this all out.

I was a GA and rushed to AA when I sensed oil discounts starting soon, I had few buildings left to be max AA so it's not a rush I just didn't complete all upgrades, I was sick of how weak GA fighter planes have become to AA max SAMs + I couldn't research fighter's hp in Amelia cuz it requires level 6 university which is only available in AA

and I did manage to complete all AA oil buildings upgrade during previous oil discounts except for the new factory level that unlocks tactical chopper and am very satisfied with my decision as I also maxed out all my AA offensive capabilities and started AA SAMs to hold off Mk6 fighters after which am gonna finish my missing GA upgrades and start AA defensive upgrades

my loss is nothing since I was being hit by AA players anyway when I was in GA so nothing changed, so if ur an almost max. GA I highly recommend u jump to AA cuz I feel that summer rush maybe the last discount opportunity since the regular weekly discounts has stopped and no idea if it's gonna be back after summer rush or not.

My suggestion to you is upgrade your TC now to global you'll be in time with the event with GA armory on day 1 in that case you dont have to upgrade 2-3 mills for howies (depending if you have notre dame) plus you dont have to upgrade oil refinery twice for air strip or bunker or factory youll still save time plus if you have extra houses you can upgrade defenses without upgrading market place like redoubt or mortar tower

Then on the last hour of the event crown your armory upgrade to get supply truck and 2nd lvl tanks

Or merc camp since its 9mil food

Ill be smashed by AA anyways when going to global, so whats the difference. Also i typically stay low oil during the week and farm it all without logging off to start a big oil upgrade.

Please have in mind that to rush 2 ages at once, you have to have a high enough level to do that. For AA age its 150lvl.

Damn, i was wondering about that. Im at 146, not sure if i can get enough stuff upgraded in time to hit 150.

Ill rush GA for sure, maybe ill just stay there for a couple of months and then jump to AA when i have all of my oil buildings maxed for GA.

If your roads aren't maxed for your age, that's an easy way to get to 150.

This would be nice, but misses the point of taking advantage of both instant tc upgrades. If I were taking full workers and time for one of these, I would just not rush to atomic.

146 to 150 should be no problem at all. A single road upgrade would do it. I am coming from lower down, but had intentionally left my roads low, so upgrading them now.
