Season Event 4: Helicopter Strike

Our fourth and final event for this Season takes place from June 21st to July 5th.
In this Helicopter themed event we’re introducing a new Event Troop and Legendary War Artifact.

RAH-66 Comanche (New Event Troop)
This stealth helicopter targets defensive buildings, while remaining undetectable by defensive towers. It has low health but its long range missiles deal massive 7x damage against defensive buildings.

Huey Armament System (New Legendary War Artifact)

• +9% Attack Helicopter Damage
• +9% Attack Helicopter Damage
• +9% Attack Helicopter Hitpoints
• +9% Bazooka Damage
• -6% All Enemy Defensive Towers Damage

Here are the bonuses and discounts you’ll find during the event.

Helicopter Strike Event Changes:

• +50% RAH-66 Comanche Hitpoints and Damage
• +50% Ballista Tower Hitpoints and Damage
• +100% Attack Helicopter Hitpoints and Damage
• +100% Tactical Helicopter Hitpoints and Healing
• +50% Decoy Hitpoints
• +50% Helicopter Hangar Hitpoints
• +50% Helipad Hitpoints
• +50% Livens Flame Projector Hitpoints and Damage
• +50% AH-1 Super Cobra Hitpoints and Damage
• +50% KA-25 Assault Helicopter Hitpoints and Damage
• +50% Mil Mi-24 Hitpoints and Damage
• +50% CH-53E Super Stallion Hitpoints and Damage

These upgrades will also be discounted for the duration of the event:

• -15% Attack Helicopter Upgrade Cost
• -15% Tactical Helicopter Upgrade Cost
• -15% Decoy Upgrade Cost
• -15% Attack Helicopter Upgrade Time
• -15% Tactical Helicopter Upgrade Time

FYI, there is a bug with the time discounts for the upgrade of units. The time discount works fine if you can finish the upgrade before the end of the season, but it you start it during the season and it will finish after the season is over, the time discount disappears and the upgrade gets extended back to the original value. This has happened twice over multiple seasons already and just happened again with my bomber upgrade which was supposed to finish today and just got extended by a full day because the season was over.

I think the discounts are nice but they have very limited value when they don't work properly or if you can't finish it during the season.

So what you're saying is: during the event the time was discounted but after the event it wasn't ?? Sounds about right.

Support says this is by design, I don't think they understood the point.

To clarify the current Helicopter Season runs from 6/21-7/5, 14 days. There is a 15% discount in time for Tactical Helicopters as part of this event. For me, that reduces the time to upgrade that unit to 13 days and 17 hours. If I start that upgrade on the first day and it finished before 7/5, then the discount will be applied properly. If I start this upgrade on 6/22 it should finish on 7/6, it will count down as if the upgrade is 13 Days and 17 hours until the event is over on 7/5. Then the time needed to finish will jump back up 15% and it will add 2 days to the upgrade to finish on 7/8 or so.

Basically, this is a fake discount if you can't complete the upgrade within the season. Still a nice event for lower ages but at Information Age, unless timed perfectly, the discount doesn't exist. If this is by design, I'm ok with it, it just isn't communicated that way. I'd much rather they fix the Parliament Alliance Speed-up for University skills bug anyway, that one is much more annoying and is costing me 4 hours of alliance speed-ups every day.

Would love to hear from anyone who doesn't use helis (because they're useless from Space Age upwards) who is now using them because of the event. Have they improved with the event buffs?
Incidentally, BHG loves to twist the knife a little. They give us an event that boosts heli stats but for good measure throw in some defensive tower boosts. Same ole BHG.

FYI, helis still suck when there are lots of 'shooty' defenders around. Need too much protection from planes. Back to trusted bazookas.
