Status of chat repair

Monday, June 11th, 2018 - We have added an new fix to chat to prevent old messages from bubbling up to the top of the thread. While it is far from a flawless system, chat should now be back to the same level of functionality now on the new system. We will continue to monitor this closely for any lingering bugs and issues.

Earlier in May we rolled out a new chat backend system in Dominations in the hopes of fixing a number of long standing Alliance chat bugs and provide greater stability and performance in chat.

Unfortunately, as players reported--and we see in our errors logs--the update came with its own set of bugs and issues. Since the roll out, we’ve been debugging errors and deploying fixes as quickly as possible, and we know we still have more to do to get Alliance chat and all the supported chat features back into a reliable, steady state. Here’s what we’re working on now:

• Some player names displaying incorrectly
• Unable to donate troops
• incorrect donation cap or able to see negative numbers for troop donations

In order to create better transparency and let you know where we’re at with fixes, we will update this thread going forward with any chat changes. We know that requesting donations and communicating with Alliance members during this time has been more difficult than usual, and we thank you for your patience as we take the necessary time to ensure making the right fixes for Alliance chat.

On a more more personal note, I'd like to thank Hobbit Zombies, Illuminaughty, and RABBITT EMPIRE for allowing me to pop in and out of their Alliances over the past week as we look at new fixes.

In non-chat related news, the newest DomiNations update is available! The ‘Treasures of the World’ update contains the Museum and a number of bug fixes and improvements! (You can read more about it here.) Updating DomiNations will not interfere with (or fix) Alliance chat.

id say so. all troop requests are now negative and cant be filled so chat is worse than before....beyond worse..it makes the game unplayable if you cant get troop requests filled.

What do you expect? They leave the game broken for well over a month, barely keep players up to date about the issue, and then ignore/delete posts they don't like. If this was an isolated incident perhaps I'd agree with you. But the introduction of bugs and their lackadaisical approach to fixing and communicating about them happens with every...single...update. Then to add insult to injury they can introduce a new money-making feature during the middle of this that works flawlessly, despite the wonky economics of it.

If anything, they should be more worried when the day comes that a major bug pops up and lingers and there aren't a dozen threads about it. That means that people have finally given up on and/or stopped caring about the game completely. Not great in an oversaturated entertainment market.

We're well past the chicken or the egg question at this point. Nexon's long history of inaction and lack of communication have brought such behavior on themselves. If each screwup with little accountability loses even 1% of the player base and every update is screwed up where does that get them eventually?

Up until late yesterday my chat was broken and unavailable for hours. I was on mobile data. But from today the chat issue has been fixed for me! (I hope it stays like this)

My advise to the developers would be - “Don’t try to fix something that isn’t broken”. The old chat system was legacy, but it was a working one at least 95% of the time

Well, chat seems repaired (for the most part.)

Now if we could just get the war algorithm a little tighter, that'd be great. Haven't been up against a team in months we can win against unless they don't participate. We are grossly outclassed in every single matchup! We've come to the conclusion that the algorithm hates our alliance.

Oh well, we've yet to miss our 60% STARS bonus, so there's that! Lol...

Chat is looking better, but troop requests still go haywire, see sequence of screenshots showing an apparently open request that is unfillable.

No, look at the first picture, 18 space. Then it shows 10 filled by my attempt to donate. Then the error comes up and it goes back to showing 18 free (0 donated) and my donation is retuned to me.

Here is a second, related, issue where my troop request has been filled, but the chat window shows it is still an unfilled request.

I added a 3rd screenshot showing 2 cases where a couple unfillable donation requests are lingering. One for over a day, the other for over 4 weeks.

All my clan members are afraid to start any new friendly challenges as we are afraid that it will stick in the chat for weeks !! Well done Nexon, now we are getting afraid of using the chat. Well done...

It's a filled (or half-filled) request. If it was a half-filled request (that's why you couldn't donate large troops), you could fill with single riflemen. If it was filled, then you need to reload the game. It's an old issue, the game saves partial data, some filled requests that couldn't push through.

I understand that it's filled, which is why the donation fails,, but it lingers on the chat window for a long time and garbles things. Old issue or new, chat still isn't bug free.
