Tank issues.

Tanks have a really strange behavior. Have anyone else noticed? They keep driving all the way up to a tower, turn around, drive back a bit, turn back to the tower and then start shooting. Facing a anti-tank gun that makes the difference between win and lose.

are they supposed to do this for some balance reason? Or is it a bug or designed flaw?

Also, why can't tanks shoot over buildings/walls when every other ranged unit can? I believe the tank is underused because of this, canons and riflemen don't need to drive around buildings/walls to start shooting, so they are more efficient at keep shooting. Thus British are the go to nation, and all you see in wars are riflemens and cannons.

I think its more fair if tanks as well could shoot over walls, or if only mortars and helicopters could shoot over walls.

flawed in pathfinder! They will go to the nearest shooting position in map, but ignore wall in this calculation.

Once they have a bug that let defenders shoot over wall. I love it, at least wall is like real wall, every defenders inside a real city have this ability! Without it people like to make unrealistic city wall look more like a maze!

Bcos tank has range +3, if it's too near defensive buildings, they hv to go backward before shooting.

This is a very relevant post. Indeed, tanks drive all the way up to their target, then reverse and attack, even if they are arriving from beyond their range. Devastating if antitank guns are involved. No other unit seems to be doing this.
In general, unit behavior is inconsistent as far as shooting over walls is concerned. Is Napolean with his range a tank or a field gun? If he is a field gun, why is he not shooting over walls? If he is a tank, why airplanes do not cause him extra damage?

PS. I would love to try out a scenario where riflemen could no longer shoot over walls but tanks could. I bet the French would rejoice and replace British as the perceived over powered nation!
I keep thinking that this has been tried by the developers but for some reason is not seen as the right thing for the game.

Yeah, well my thought is that nighter or both should fire above walls. I think that would work as a good evening out of the over used riflemen.

Also just realized, riflemens are a tier 2 upgradable unit in the university, while the
tank is a tier 4, it is much more expensive to get up to max, so I think it's only fair that a tank should be on pair if not better than rifleman, of course I understand that it's about army composition not individual units. But I still believe there needs to be a bit of a power shift from riflemen to tanks.
