To damn long to advance through the ages and more University stuff makes it painful

I'm a grinder who does spend about $500 a year on this game.. Right now I am desperately trying to finish up my university upgrades so I can move on to industrial age.

new update adds a whole other set of university upgrades to accomplish.

I spent about 60k crowns at the beginning of Enlightenment (January 2018) age to quickly upgrade my offense. I have upgraded everything since that date and I am only left with university upgrades to max out for the level.

My issue is I spent a fair amount of money and its still going to take me well over a year to get through an E.A. This is a turn off this gets old and this may be a reason why I leave the game. I want to advance and I do not like to rush bases. The reason I do not like to rush bases is that in the end I will just have this much more catch up to do with anything that was rushed along.

I am hoping to see a way to reduce the time it takes to upgrade university stuff... There is so much of it and many of the levels take over a week for each upgrade... Since I spent my money on the early part of the Age I am not going to continue to spend more money at the end. (I do accumulate crowns and spend to get them but I save those for the beginning of the next age)... I feel my financial support is more than enough.

The university upgrades take too long IMO

I too almost maxed every age till global but jumped AA and went to CWA straight away. No issues so far. Just because my base has only global age defences, that doesn't mean that is easy prey to cwa players. Infact, most of them can't even 5 star me. So don't be afraid to go to the next age.

Enlightenment age sucks. With my first base I was level 140 before I advanced to Industrial, and I was not enjoying the game. But industrial was a breath of fresh air; new buildings, new units, and AIRCRAFT! so many more elements to explore. Get out of Enlightenment and you will have fun again. BTW, Global is another age worth rushing.

It’s a pacing problem. As others have stated there isn’t a strong strategic reason to max everything. However a max-ish approach can be quite good if you prefer to spend time to enjoy the unique game play of each age without stretching it so far that it gets boring. It can be done, and the semi-annual rush events suggest how. Here is an example:

Beginning—Enlightenment age: 6 months

Industrial age: 6 months

Global age: 6 months

Atomic age: 6 months

…

If you are selective then some University research can be fit in, and it works more easily if you have the Estate.

To me, pacing is a worthwhile strategy, balancing the enjoyment of each age with regular advancement to keep things fresh for the years-long marathon that this game inescapably is.

As everyone mentioned, when you have the option to upgrade the TC, that's when an age 'ends' and a new one begins. Even a maxed out base can become cannon fodder for the person above your age. Less likely but possible. There is always a bigger, smarter fish in the sea.

I remember there was a time when I was global/atomic when I spend an entire year doing nothing but Uni. Then I stopped and for the last year I have been doing nothing but catching my base up. Now I am in the process to switch back to full Uni 24/7 as I am nowhere near completion. Priorities are everything.

Now if you both want full completion but do not have the patience then the problem you are having is with yourself, not with the game. For example I also play CoC but casual. I have been stuck at lvl9 Town for the last 2 years. And probably will be for the next 1. But hey, I spend my cash here not there

Exactly. University upgrades are meant for end game max. Maybe you can just do the minimum amount of upgrades in each tier until it starts getting up to 6+ days. I only just maxed all 10 levels of my tier 1 in Seijong, Leonardo, and Catherine having a lv 200 base. Maxing out walls and defensive buildings in each age is much more important. I have OCD and had to give up trying to max Uni upgrades because the benefit/time cost ratio diminishes with each level of a given research item.

Yeah. Pretty sure most competent industrial players could beat your enlightenment age base even if you max the uni and everything else you can. Would they have heavy losses? Maybe. I've seen some surprisingly tough EA bases, but there are limitations.

So you're basically complaining that the long road that you alone have chosen to walk is too long then? I cannot possibly imagine spending $500 a year on this game and only being in enlightenment age, but it's a rich tapestry. Good luck with weaving your corner of it.
