Watching the tennis at Wimbledon gave me an idea. Tournaments would be a multiplayer knockout competition that last two weeks. All players who enter are assigned an opponent, and they each have to attack the other's base (the war base active at the start of the day) within 24 hours.

The winner is decided on the same basis as world war (stars, destruction, time), and goes on to the next round. The process repeats each day.

4 day tournaments would allow 2[SUP]14[/SUP] (16,384) players to enter. If more than that want to play, participants are decided by lottery. If less than the maximum want to play, some players get a bye to the second round, and/or the tournament length is reduced. There could be an open tournament for players of any age, and/or tournaments for players of the same Age.

Players can put troops in their own town center, and troop tactics in their stronghold. They can also form tournament coalitions. This could be restricted to later rounds, so in the first round nothing is allowed, in the fourth and later rounds town center troops, in the eighth and later rounds coalitions, and in the semi-finals and finals stronghold troops.

The tournament winner receives a free university or library research, or a free general upgrade, The runner up gets resources (3 million gold or food, or 30 thousand oil). The losing semi-finalists get 1 million gold or food, or 10 thousand oil.

Tournament results are posted in the News and Announcements section of the forums. Final attack replays are available for anyone to watch using a link in the forum post.

There's nothing wrong with a Tournament, but what you've put won't work and would upset too many people. There's another game i've played AOS/ COB that has Tournaments for players and also Tournaments for alliances, works well.

IMO any Tournament would have to be inclusive, everyone should be able to enter. You've allowed for 16,384 players, there will be 600,000+ people playing Dominations, maybe even over 1,000,000. That means that less than 3% of players would be able to enter, leaving at least 97% of the player base utterly pi**ed off.

Second issue are the rewards, "a free university or library research, or a free general upgrade". The players who will win will be maxed out Atomics with all their generals leveled and their university research/ library research completed. All rewards would have to be event troops.

Third issue is I've seen these in other games and it's obvious Nexon would do the same. They end being a ticket entry system where the tickets have to be brought from the store with $$$. Inevitably, the reward will end up something big like a permanent exclusive event building or general so lots of people buy the tickets for $$$.

Forth issue is that Tournaments have a seeding and matchmaking system so that the spenders/ maxed out Atomics avoid each other in the early rounds. Matchmaking seems a little troublesome for BHG.

I'd guess there's already something in the pipeline, maybe something similar but for alliances, or maybe something different
Currently, Alliance XP is only earned in World Wars.
That suggests there will be other ways to earn AXP, which means other things you can do as an alliance. I like the TF operations in Boom Beach, it would be great if each alliance had a huge single enemy to attack as an alliance....

First, thanks for your comments. That's what the forum's are for, to identify unintended consequences and flaws, and to suggest ways to make the idea work.

I did say there would be multiple tournaments at a time, so all players could be accommodated. I chose a two week period because that is how long Wimbledon lasts. Adding another week would allow everyone to enter, but that is a long time commitment if you have to play every day. Then again, most players would be out within a week so probably not a major concern.

I wanted to make the reward something most people would want, but as you say the winner of an open tournament will usually be a maxed Atomic. So how about 10 troop cards? And 5 for the runner up, 2 for the losing semi-finalist. For the lower age tournaments, it could be a free advance to the next age (which the winner would probably be ready for), or the rewards I originally suggested.

If Nexon wants to go down the paid route you suggest, I can't stop them. It will then just be for the top players, which would be a shame.

Your fourth point is extremely valid. If two top players met in an early round the loser would be pi**ed off. However, People continue to start World Wars even though the match making is horribly broken right now, and most would put up with the same problem in tournaments.
