I finally made it! I’ve upgraded my heavy horse to tanks. Now that I have made this jump I am wonder how others have included that “tank” into their army assortment. Do you use a lot of tanks, do you keep a similar assortment as before but only add 1-2 tanks. To give everyone an idea on where I stand, I am Romans with currently 137 troop spaces, (haven’t upgrade barrack yet but will soon to get extra 15 spaces). Along with tanks I also have done research/upgrade into artillery. No other troops have been upgrade though. Before getting tanks my typical assortment would be 3 healers, 4-5 artillery, 30 musketeers, a few heavy Gatling guns and the rest praetorian fusiliers. That’s my primary war army that I bring to war, I also bring merc’s and alliance gate troops too but I’m not too worried about them.

Thanks

When I use tanks I use about 5 or 6 with 3 howitzers, 2 or 3 heal trucks and the rest riflemen. But in WW I only use Heavy Tanks mk3 with howitzers and 4 planes.

Most of the members in my alliance use 2-3 tanks, 2-3 healing carts, 5-6 arts/howi's with the rest shooters. Only the bottom row troops in the armory for both regular attacks and war attacks. If you compare the DPS of the shooters to Gatling gunners, you will find you get more total DPS from 4 shooters than you do from the 1 Gatling gun. Library and uni research also plays a big roll in troop strength and health.

Awesome, thanks guys. I figured an army to tanks wasnt really the best approach. Ive been attacked before by someone who had only tanks and it didnt end well for them.
I like the idea of sticking with 2-3 tanks. As for the Gatling guns, i would normally say your right but i do like donating them to some of the lower ranked players in my alliance. but otherwise i would agree switching them with just shooters.

do you consider using tanks+ raiders during raids or just raiders only?

Hi JNation,

I'm French and in IA when I upgraded to tanks, I used 4 tanks. I don't use gatling guns anymore either. I have personally not had much success with a tank+raiders army or just raiders army or wall miners+raiders. I just use my regular army for raids. I try to minimize losses. I don't deploy mercs for MP battles. Minimize the use of tactics too...

Hi Empire,
I tried what LadyInRed mentioned for troop assortment. Went with 3 tanks 5 artillery 3 healers 10 fusilier *cleanup crew and the rest are shooters (musketeers) around 30. Ive actually had alot of success with that line up. I dont use any mercs, only for war, but at the moment i cant because im upgrading merc camp anyways lol. Also with that line up i havent used any tactics either so i really do like the line up. French is nice, your training time with training blessing is just crazy!

Thanks for all the input everyone!

Feasibly, it is possible to get away with 3 tanks as french and about 6 siege units, 3 healers, 3 elite/heavy infantry (just for cleaning up extra buildings), and the rest light infantry. I think if you are a different nation then maybe add a tank, or remove one. More than 4 is usually overkill I believe. MaT's got a bunch of videos on youtube that shows his industrial army composition, mostly for war but there are some raiding compilations too, they should give you a nice general idea of what type of composition works for Industrial and Global age.
