I've had this quite a bit recently. Sometimes when I place units at the edge of the forest during a battle they die straight away in a puff. No defenses, traps or defenders are nearby so I find this very odd. What is going on?
Ive noticed the same thing...both when I deploy them, but also later in the raid too. Troops disappearing in a puff after all defensive towers and troops are gone....its like they die through fatigue.
I can attest to encountering this problem as well. On two occasions the loss of troops was 1/4 of my entire army, albeit they were horsemen, but still significant.
Ah nuts, I had a good example where several died but it has dropped off my log.
I have a theory with the issue. The forests have been glitchy for some time, with patches of forest disappearing from where they're meant to be and appearing layered over the base somewhere. In combat, if we place units over a glitchy area (without knowing it), could this make the game think we're placing units over a piece of forest and hence kill them?
Not sure about the forest - I lost one or two motos on the shoreline to raid the storehouse - there were two gold mines right next to the drop off point though.
Hmm, could be certain objects triggering it then, or perhaps the forest glitch placed a patch of forest at the shoreline but in your visual it didn't show up.
Ok i knew I wasn't the only one. I managed to easily notice it today when I dropped a moto by itself during an attack. I recorded the replay and you can see the poor moto literally goes poof before it even gets a chance to deploy. No traps are sprung and there isn't any space for one where I deployed. I drop a second moto and everything's fine then.
