Wall Sapper

Is this a troop that should be kept up to level? I haven't seen them mentioned in any troop comps.

If you have strong Riflemen, Ground Troops, Tanks, Artillery they can easily wipe out any base (along with the use of a good combination of tactics depending on the complexity of enemy base). So you will find that most people don't "waste" troop space on Wall Sappers.

Having said that, in unique circumstances you may require wall sappers where the walls are of very high level or double/triple walled (again dependent on the base design) - mind you, the wall sapper only blasts a wall only once, after that it's practically useless) . Even so, your levelled up troops, tanks and artillery can take down most designs. So again, little need for wall sappers.

Like what vx mentioned, very seldom people would use sappers in their regular army. For special purposes during wars maybe. But most usually find better use for troop space than sappers.

You have your games mixed up

Generally, an EA wall breaker is all you need for all but the highest level walls

As BV123 mentioned, sappers can be critical for for a war, especially for getting a QV. I also completely rely on them for oil raiding. You often need 2 or 3 to reach a well-protected refinery and carve a path for raiders. In both instances, higher level sappers are essential, its the HP, they need to survive long enough to plant a charge.....also sometimes they end up trying to breach a wall while stuck on caltrops, in which case they will need high damage to be successful. So, yes I keep my sappers updated.

Best experience using wall sappers ever!

Use sapper to break wall....troops shoot and break down wall 2 spaces away!

So don't blame me why I don't like wall sappers...sigh
