What should my end game comp look like?

Hello. I’m near the end of my Industrial Age and I’m French. Currently my comp runs 5 French tanks, 40 shooters, 2 healing carts, 4 howitzers.

My question is, when I get to late Atomic Age/Early CW Age, what do comps usually look like? At the moment I haven’t built a factory because I haven’t found the need to use any of the troops from there, but after looking through the forums I’ve seen people saying late game most of your troops will come from the Factory like APCs and Bazookas. Is that true? I would like to know because I want to prioritize what troops to upgrade in the Armory from now and don’t want to waste time upgrading something in the factory I don’t need. What troops are mainly used from the factory considering I’m a French player.

Will my French tanks still be viable in the late atomic age? I plan to have the 30% HP and Atk for tanks maxed from Saladins by the time I get there.

Not sure if it’s worth noting but I only play MP battles, not involved in alliances so I typically just care about effective resource raiding and low trains times which is why I chose French. Don’t think I will partake in alliances any time soon.

If you only play MP battles, and if your priority is effective resource raiding, nothing would come close to the composition of raiders and wall breakers.

On my first base, I'm late AA, playing as the British, and these are my typical troop compositions. As a French player, these compositions should still work well, I suppose, at least for MP battles:
If I need to gather a large quantity of oil for some huge upgrade, I switch to an army of about 9 wall breakers and the rest as raiders.
In MP battles, if I'm focusing on gathering national trade goods (for the purposes of activating coalitions for wars) along with whatever resources I can muster up, I go with the following composition:
2 tanks
2 APCs
2 supply convoys
5 Field howitzers
52 shooters

It's in wars that I go with an army predominantly composed of APCs, bazookas, and field howitzers.

Hope this helps. Cheers and happy gaming! :)

If MP and Raiding is your desire, go Heavy tank all the way. Medal drop and whiping out enemies. I would advise you to watch youtube videos to check out how it's done. With HTs you don't need retraining times :)

I'm a level 220 French player and my current mix is 20 shooters, 3 tanks, 3 carts, 4 field howies, 4 apc mk. 2. The APC's tend to spit out just enough heavy infantry to keep the howies and carts from their favorite pastime of finding every trap on the map. For wars I drop 2 APC's and 1 cart and add 8 Elite Bazookas. I'm still experimenting with my war mix after finishing lots of upgrades during the winter event though.

To be honest if your only concern is getting loot as a French player nothing beats 155 heavy infantry, low medals and a training blessing though. Drop down to between 400-1000 medals and go nuts. My average oil per hour is roughly the same or better using the human wave than it is using full armies. No need to bother with wall miners, no need to babysit carts and cannons with their questionable ai, planes are only for cleanup so no worries there either. Just churn and burn. And if you screw up/underestimate a base? You're out a whopping 3 minutes and 80,000 food before you can do it again.

I briefly tried 6 Mk. 5 Heavy Tanks when I got them and they were too slow for my liking, even if they were invulnerable on most bases. The combo I mentioned up top is fine, but sooner or later you'll lose a cannon or cart and either have to wait or crown them. Not to mention you have to clear all the defensive buildings too. Heavy infantry are cheap, fast and utterly disposable so that's what I mostly raid with now.

Anyway, if you're not interested in wars I'd probably only invest in APC's and maybe heavy tanks. Bazookas are too expensive and utterly suicidal to use as bulk raiders, as fun as they are. Machineguns? Saboteurs? Pfft.

Just upgrade your tanks, howies, heavy and light infantry and carts. Others can possibly convince you of the merit of tactical helis, I don't see it personally. Max out your fighters and maybe your transports if you've nothing else to do.

Now if you want to climb the medal rankings? I can't give you much advice on that. Never been above 2300 myself. Hope this novella helps in some way.

Do the soldiers that come out of your APC depend on the level of your infantry in your armory?

Yes. They're also affected by uni/library techs pertaining to infantry. The statistics on the APC screen are just for the vehicle itself.

I don't think so, soldiers spawned from APC are always soldiers at the level of your Age, you don't have to upgrade them in armory, it won't help. As far as uni/lib upgrades not sure, but I'll bet they don't affect APC spawned soldiers.

It's not necessary to upgrade the infantry at the armory - the APC spawns the infantry at the level of the age.
University research under Catherine buffs up the infantry from the APC. I would assume the library researches apply too.

Why wouldn't you upgrade your infantry anyway? It's not like you can immediately upgrade everything in your armory when it finishes, even with Notre Dame. So I stand corrected, but to me it's a moot point.

It's possible to upgrade other troops ahead of the infantry, by upgrading the mills in parallel with the armory.
One might eventually upgrade the infantry, but, it need not be an immediate priority, if one wants to take advantage of the APC.
It's important to give the correct information so that people can prioritize and upgrade accordingly. Nothing moot about it.
