Why does upgrade time more than double from EA to IA? It takes 5 days to upgrade mortar in EA but 12 days in IA. Workers get more distracted by mobile phone games?

After the last discount weekend, I thought I could bear 12 days without an active mortar, having survived 24 freak days with only 2 barracks, but it has been a real test of patience at my 6th day without mortar now. I thought it was ok to live from one peace treaty to another, but it gets very discouraging after some time. A Friend of mine who started around the same time as me left in IA due to the ridiculous long waiting time.

Why the sudden big jump in upgrade time?

In the good old days, when people needed to build something, they just did!
With the passage of time, there's a need to navigate through multiple layers of bureaucracy to get things done :p
To upgrade a mortar, there's a need to initiate the discussions, convince a whole lot of people about the need for upgrade, discuss and debate on the budget required, find a vendor through competitive bidding, get the necessary clearances, and so on... Well, guess you get the hang of it by now

And, your friend has done the community a favor by leaving a dead base for others to loot... Hope he left his resource buildings unprotected before quitting the game. We'll all be sure to thank him in our hearts when we encounter his base, and the goodwill will go a long way in helping your friend to live long and prosper! :p

And, a good way to kill the drudgery is to be part of an alliance where one can have a good time, while waiting for those upgrades to finish :) Or, to start another base, where things are still interesting :)

This is a generational game. They don't expect anyone currently playing to max out unless they spend thousands of dollars. Your grandchildren just might be able to max the game out, however.

Of course its a generational game. I remember in the old days l used to toil in the field to cut down timber for my little hut - then l upgraded to a stone & iron building - and now l live in a post-depression 2 storey building constantly being carpet bombed by the Nazis. Isn't progress wonderful ???
