Greetings leaders! I hope everyone has been enjoying all the recent in-game events. We’ve certainly been having a lot of fun developing them and playing them ourselves.
Over the last few months we focused our efforts on fixing bugs, improving performance and stability, and implementing better security. We know how frustrating it can be to see crashes in battle, especially during World War. With the 3.5 and 3.7 releases, you should notice a marked improvement. We made performance gains across the board, especially on older devices. We also spent a lot of effort on improving security on the back end, making it harder for cheaters to prosper and banning those that do.
These releases required ground-up rewrites of several core systems, so they took a long time to develop and we had to do a lot of testing to ensure that any changes were actually improving the gameplay experience. Going forward we will continue to work on keeping DomiNations stable, secure, and polished, in order to provide the best experience we can for all our players.
In addition, 3.7 also came with several improvements to the usability of Alliances. Several of these are features that have been long requested by players (as well as quite a few of our developers), like the ability to write custom chat messages with troop requests. This should ensure that players are a lot happier with what they get from their allies. Alliance leaders can also better manage their alliances now thanks to information about last log-in and lifetime donations for allies, as well as the ability to message the entire alliance though the in-game inbox. Finally it’s easier than ever to search, sort, and join an alliance, as well as bookmark alliances to easily find them later.
As mentioned above, we’ve been having a lot of fun making events that we think are challenging, provide great rewards, and depict exciting episodes from yesteryear. I’m really excited about our next batch of events, especially the one that will let pre-Industrial Age players try out airplanes in battle. Feel free to post in the forums if you have suggestions for events! They are a great place for us to try out new content and have some fun showcasing aspects of history that don’t get a chance to shine in regular gameplay.
Global Age is almost here! We know it’s been a long time coming and we thank you for your patience. The Global Age brings the World War II era to DomiNations. WWII involved most of the world's nations, splitting the globe between the Axis and the Allies. Over 50 million people died in the war, making it the deadliest in recorded history. Following the war, changes to the global political power structure led to the Cold War standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union.
In DomiNations, the Global Age introduces bigger tanks and bigger planes, as well as a few other new twists. The vehicles and planes look amazing, and there are three brand new troop types with the release (including one that is introduced in Gunpowder Age). My personal favorite is the Paratrooper. They get dropped from a transport plane and parachute down behind enemy lines, gunning down a base from the inside.
Looking beyond Global Age, we will continue to work on making improvements to alliances, as well as adding more depth and strategy to World Wars. Players should expect to see new content across all ages. Our next big feature I’m probably not allowed to talk about yet (producer note - definitely not allowed to talk about it yet!), but I think it does a great job of bringing more of the historical flavor that makes DomiNations unique. And it’s fun to boot. Hopefully we’ll be able to share more details about it with you soon.
Okay, that’s it for this month. We really appreciate your support, and look forward to continuing to share and grow DomiNations with you all!
