0x03: The hero DomiNations needs or the hero it deserves?

There's something almost 'cartoony' about 0x03's antics. Armed with a couple of database-manipulating gimmicks and a bit of showmanship, he shines a spotlight on some serious flaws.

- There's no forum moderation on the weekends or after-hours. If you post it after quitting time on Friday, it is fair game until sometime Monday at the very least.
- Months after release, the game's database security is obviously like a net: a loose collection of holes bound together by string.
- Affected accounts are still vandalized days later.
- Getting into the 'top 200' only paints a target on you, as there's obviously ways to discern your player ID from data sent to display the leaderboard. (As an extension, could 0x03 or his ilk look up a guild and edit all of their names or info as well?)

I'm guessing that BHG and/or Nexon have only one or two people dedicated to supporting this game and they lack the tools to make database-wide changes, just updating singular accounts with SQL by hand.

So, I put it you: how much crap has to happen in Gotham to get Commissioner Gordon off his fat rump?

Right now 0x03 has been fairly tame-- we've been subjected to a little vandalism as he spray paints his name in a few corners. What happens when he (or someone like him) goes for a more 'subtle evil'? The sort of thing that isn't in your face and can't be fixed by anything short of a database restoration to a previous backup-- which may or may not exist?

the problem is that by only targeting the leaderboard, new players are unaware that this game is pure garbage, and continue buying crowns. They will only be in for a rude awakening months down the line when they've painstakingly put in time and money into building up their city. What needs to happen is a hack that makes the game unplayable even for the newbies, not just the leaderboard. Then, when no one buys crowns and everyone leaves a 1 star rating, maybe then nexon/bgh will wake up to the fact that their game is 100% broken.

Yes. At low medals, the only hackers you encounter are the ones who got tired of clicking on the easy upgrades and quit.

Now these senseless weekly upgrades, raids where you have one real battle out of 10, unpredictable troops and cheats on top of it. The game is still sticky, but from considering heavy investment into it, it came to 'play casual till the better game is out'

I still don't get the point to cheat and hack this game... I mean it may be fun to crush bases with oversized army... But the fun lasts like 1 day or 2. After that, they probably think "damn, i should get a life"

I'm not a techie guy so can't tell you for sure, but I think the hack is the subject of enjoyment, not winning/playing the game.

For those actually hacking, you are spot on. The folks consuming the hacks however for the sole purpose of gaining advantage are a different breed entirely.
