2015 player returning, need a crash course on offence

I have not played this game since 2015, now because of the situation around I remembered about it and started playing again. With so much new stuff can you give me a crash course of what I need to focus on to be able to take part in world wars? Currently my base is a mess, it's 97 level Enlightment, Romans. Apperantly my strategy in 2015 was to use Riders only in attack so balista, mortar, gatling gun those I have not unlocked yet... What troop should I upgrade, what researches, in university what to do? I am looking for the most efficient way to become strong in attack.

• Brandenburg Gate
• Airstrip 2 -> Triplane MK 3
• Library 7 -> Aviation 5
• University 4 -> Amelia 10
• Castle 4 -> generals 30
• Library 5 -> Leadership 5
• University 3 -> Sally - Alliance Gate Cap 4
• Alliance Gate 7
• Mercenary Camp 7

So I am making progress on this. Factory done, tanks and Airstrip 2 under research, Library 6 is done, Brandenburg Gate done, Castle 4 is done, Mercenary camp done. But how am I supposed to upgrade all generals to level 30? My highest one is 12 level currently and most are level 4 or 5? Also I have Forbidden city wonder, should I replace it with Colosseum? There are too many things to upgrade in armory - tactics, factory troops, generals, airplanes what to do first, should I upgrade the Armory building, do I need the barrack troops?

Yeah at some point it just takes lots of oil to move forward. Which wonder doesn’t matter for gathering resources since you can’t use it every attack. I have colo for war. As for armory, skip the barrack troop upgrades. Given what you have done, I would focus on planes and researches that buff them. Sally is important too ... 47 ally spaces per attack helps gather oil and with war. Generals are a grind.

Oh you're Industrial now? Congrats!
Imo only do generals after your main offense upgrades are done. I wouldn't upgrade barrack troops after industrial. Start learning commando attacks right away. Still have my raiders and engineers done though!

I would skip all uni researches except Sally Ride for alliance troops until all my important building upgrades are done, to optimize worker efficiency.
