Advancement Playstyle

Just wondering, do you guys upgrade everything/most of the thing before advancing an age or just advance as soon as you reach the eligible level?

Best is finish all business in upgrades bldgs, troops, towers etc before going to next age

Maxing everything first makes a ton of sense and has been the best strat in many games of this type for a long, long time. The main benefit is that the scaling loot makes you less likely to be attacked by higher rank players and when you actually level up you will be in the best position to afford all the new stuff.

I actually find it faster... I've had over 400K gold and food, I'm in classical era, and most of my stuff is upgraded. Haven't been attacked in over 18 hours. Even Medevials fear me

its your choice.. but you will be behind on lots of important upgrades in your library and your war tactics and troops lvls and you will struggle as you move upwards IMO.

Whatever you do not upgrade now you'll just have to upgrade later plus more on top

I think it depends where you are. Perhaps better to get out of the lower levels faster, but as you get higher, rather max out first. I did both and probably at the wrong times. I jumped in to GP age as soon as I could and now playing catch up while the enlightenment guys rip my mills and markets to shreds.

Probably not one solution for every age transition, see what you're going to get from the next age first.

There are some people who just keep focusing on maxing a few favorite things/units and keep advancing ages. That's why I was wondering is there a different strategy in this game.

Enlightenment age can attack medieval age as wells so there not much difference

Depends what you want. If you enjoy taking your time and enjoying the ages then by all means upgrade everything. There is ONLY ONE advantage to not rushing through the ages; players more than 2 ages above you can't attack you. That's it. However I believe this is offset by the numerous advantages of upgrading faster. Definitely not reccomended to upgrade too fast though.

What is the cost for finding an opponent in Enlightenment Age?

I am progressing extremely fast. So I kind of disagree, but everyone has a style. Yes I will stick around for awhile but I won't struggle as much when I make the move up and will be able to hit the next age full steam ahead with lots of advantages in place.

I do the same with clash of clans.. In fact every player I have seen rush in CoC struggles. Now Boom Beach is different I rushed there, but the game is designed to be that way
